Samantha | 4 comments My favorite author is Barry Gifford, followed closely by Tony O'Neill and I struggle to find recommendations. I like books outside the realm of what's hot at the moment.

Hoot! If she's looking for books outside the mainstream, why recommend Nicholas Sparks? You must have been exercising some sarcasm there, right? :D

Well...what kind of books are these? Can you be specific?

Gerry Pirani (gerrypiraniauthor) | 12 comments Have you read Jonathan Carroll's Sleeping in Flame? For some reason, it came to mind when I read your post. Has a bit of fantasy/magic. Also, Robert Girardi's The Pirate's Daughter? You might also like my book if you like a thought-provoking journey with a plot lines including mental illness and tumultuous relationships with politics thrown in... It's called The Search For Intelligent Life on Earth: A Story of Love. You're welcome to look at the books I have listed so far on my page. There's so much out there, I find it a bit overwhelming sometimes myself. If you look up my own novel, see the reviews to determine if you might like. Hope that helps. GP
