Abigail (42stitches) | 21 comments This is a short pulp kind of novel I borrowed from a friend about five years ago. It was written in the 70's I think, but I could be completely wrong. It was a really funny, dry humor kind of story where these two creepy sisters hire a couple of gunslinger/mercenaries to find out why their house is haunted and where their father has disappeared to. There is some kind of science la in the basement and it turns out that the father didn't disappear, he turned himself into the elephant-foot umbrella stand that sits in the entry hallway.

Slinkyboy | 35 comments I think this might be Richard Brautigan's The Hawkline Monster A Gothic Western, but it's hard to find a detailed review/synopsis to confirm.

Does that sound familiar?

Abigail (42stitches) | 21 comments Just when you wish for someone's review to be a bland synopsis of the book, no one's is. Lol. But I'm pretty sure that was it. Thank yous!

Mir | 802 comments If you like the western supernatural/surreal twist, you might also try The Strange Adventures of Rangergirl.

Abigail (42stitches) | 21 comments That does sound kind of interesting...now it's on my list.
