What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

When I was younger, back around 2005, there was a book that I picked up in a airport, it might be a series but I'm not sure. It was about a boy who had special powers. I can't quite remember but I believe they wee mental powers not magic. Anyways, it started with him as a young boy who smelled burnt toast and had a premonition of his parents dying that day. The next thing I remember is his aunt getting talked to by a game show host through the television, telling her to kill the boy. She then drove a truck into the boys school, but the boy foresees it and pulls the fire alarm.

I know this is a long shot, but any help is much appreciated.
