There are two books that I'm reading right now. One of them is Spindle Fire by Lexa Hillyer. Ok, technically I'm listening to the audiobook but I think that counts. I love the voice of the person who reads it! So far it's a captivating YA spin on the tale of Sleeping Beauty. (Fantasy, romance, evil fairies, etc.) The sequel, Winter Glass, is actually the one that first caught my eye on the new books shelf, but then I realized it was a sequel and decided I should read the first book first.
The other book I'm currently rereading is White Fang by Jack London. A classic! The far north setting is perfect for when I want to curl up under a blanket on a cold night and read in bed. I know, I know, it's got some dated/racist language (it's over a hundred years old) but the point of the story is, life is hard. The world is cold. Sometimes human beings are cruel. How does a wolf-dog grow up and learn to cope with it? I realize this doesn't sound very upbeat, but really, it's an amazing story. I loved his other book, The Call of the Wild, as a child. Now that I'm older and wiser (haha), I think there is still much I can learn from this one.
Do either of these titles interest you? Do you have any other suggestions? Let us know!
