Hard choice this time as I like all three!

I thought one would be a strong favorite for me, but had the least tbr on that one. I have tons of books on my tbr, but oddly not many on the first few pages of any of these. I have 2 on the first of my least favorite, so I voted for it.

If French wins I'm definitely going to use Harry Potter since I have nothing on my tbr that fits the tag :-). I like both the other tags. What a busy PBT day.

If French wins, Theresa is getting a stink bomb for Christmas;((I have a feeling that one was the PBT member and it was her!)

It is a busy, busy day-and of course it is the day my daughter and i set aside to do cookies!! On our last batch, so I can soak up all the goodness here!!

Don't you dare! Point of info, if I had suggested, my tag would have been 'francophilia' which actually IS one of my organizing tags! And all you need to do is pick a book set in Paris...what is so terrible about that?
*raspberry emoji*

Of course I would adore it being French .. my Proust reading would fit right in! No decisions needed.

[I know what you are trying to do Joanne....get everyone talking about wanting 'french' so it ends up 'humor' or 'thriller'. Just stop it right now!]

LoL! Actually. I did think that AFTER I posted my stink bomb message and meant to come back here and tell everyone to "talk up" French. Unfortunately, Natalie and I were making cookies all morning and I have now just returned....

I think only some of the potter books have something to do with France. A group of French students visit the school, in book four maybe.

I wonder how many people tagged it "French" because they read it in French (or any other book, for that matter!).

Sara (mootastic1) | 770 comments I did in fact vote for French and I threw extra points at it.

message 22: by NancyJ (new)

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11079 comments Tip for French...

Try the link with the word France instead of French. The modern books and English language books about France will be higher on the list and easier to find. The lists likely have the same books.

The first french page is a little intimidating.

message 23: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15552 comments Alors, if Joanne starts being nice to me about French, I might just share some of my recommendations...nothing intimidating about them. In fact, great fun.

I am sure Amy must have a Marie Antoinette or Madame de Pompadour novel lurking in her TBR.

Hey! I used the Frenchie word for Voted! (that's me being nice)

message 25: by Karin (last edited Dec 16, 2019 09:39AM) (new)

Karin | 9227 comments Well, at least one of us has posted something in French somewhere who might not, in fact, vote for French (of course, this post might give you a clue, but c'est la vie!)

message 26: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12931 comments Um…. How was harry potter French? Are you thinking goblet of fire? Beauxbatons? It’s a stretch for me. I’m happy with all three choices because I have a ton of Paris and Marie Antoinette, as Joanne figured out. I voted for thriller. Simply because I have just so many on my TBR, and the faux slasher is getting serious! But I’m happy with anything.

message 27: by Meli (new)

Meli (melihooker) | 4165 comments I think I will leave it up to fate this time and hope I have some planned reads that fit!

message 28: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15552 comments On HP fitting - it's a super stretch actually. The first -- Nicholas Flamel was a French Alchemist and behind the Philosopher's Stone. Then there are the Beauxbatons as Amy mentioned in Goblet of Fire. C'est tout! I would not consider those as counting for a second.

However, all those WWII occupied France books cluttering everyone's TBR Towers, Piles, Lists and LIbraries, including mine, would certainly fit.

I can even suggest a dystopian novel, many mysteries, historical fiction, historical non-fiction, contemporary fiction, cozy mystery, espionage, many classics in translation, the list goes on. It's much broader than thriller for sure.

message 29: by Joi (new)

Joi (missjoious) | 3970 comments I'm into all three of these!!!

message 30: by Karin (new)

Karin | 9227 comments I cannot think of Harry Potter as French just because there was some French character in it, although it's not as far fetched as the person who tagged To Kill a Mockingbird werewolf back on Shelfari. Close, though.

ROFL!

message 32: by Cora (new)

Cora (corareading) | 1921 comments My guess is someone owns the French edition of Harry Potter and tagged it French for that reason.

message 33: by LibraryCin (new)

LibraryCin | 11696 comments I still think (mentioned earlier on) that people use the tag "French", not for anything in the books, necessarily, but simply if they read the books in French.

message 34: by NancyJ (new)

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11079 comments The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is on the Humor list. Does that sound right to those who have read it? It was on my Trim list, so I hope to read it soon.

Yes, I would say there is some humor in some the events that take place-I remember smiling quite a bit

Oh, sure, I understand that :)! But I probably had forgotten that by the time I got down to the other posts as I was no doubt skimming which is par for the course at this time of the year.

message 37: by Nikki (new)

Nikki | 663 comments Done (and I surprised myself with my choice - one stood out as having several I wanted to read on the first page of tags, and it wasn't the one I expected!)

Thanks Joanne. I was hoping that was the case. The books on this tag make a lot more sense than the ones on the 'fun" tag list.

message 39: by Barbara M (last edited Dec 18, 2019 01:45PM) (new)

Barbara M (barbara-m) | 2597 comments I voted. I thought I'd like to start the year with a little humor but I had more in my TBR under Thriller so those are my one (thriller) and two (humor) choices. I hadn't thought about settings in France or I would have been more inclined to do French.

Any way will work for me. Looking forward to hearing the results.

I have a copy of this! It would be a re-read, but maybe if I have time I will fit it in. The silent film is one of my favorites.

Yes. I wouldn't be surprised to see some thriller tags too.

Amy | 12931 comments I just downloaded Dragonfly in Amber to my audible, because I finished Season One of the Starz Series! Figured I should listen to it....
