The Lifetime series You, launched on September 2018, is based on the book of the same name by Caroline Kepnes. The first 10 episodes are now available on Netflix. Season 2 is scheduled for release December 26, 2019 on Netflix. It will be loosely based on the second book by Kepnes, Hidden Bodies. Lifetime passed on the second season.

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 277 comments I'm not a big fan of the book or the show. I may try again but not too soon. LOL

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15059 comments Mod
This was a group read in another group close to the book’s release. I actually found myself fascinated with the story and the TV show nailed the casting. I enjoyed it and opted to listen to the second book, which was really, really good.

This book definitely isn’t for everyone. I’m even surprised that I liked it. Joe is so terrible! But, I couldn’t stop reading😏

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 277 comments I read the first book and he annoyed me and thats probably why the book bothers me. Hahaha

Laura I loved it, and rooted for Joe not to get caught. The people he killed were annoying as hell. Yeah I’m weird, I loved Dexter too. I’m going to watch season one next week. I have an 8 + week wait for book 2. I’ll probably break down and buy it before my hold comes in.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15059 comments Mod
Laura, I felt guilty for rooting for Joe!

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 277 comments Hahahaha I can't believe you ladies were rooting for him. Hmm, now I think I might have to give it another try but it'll have to wait until I get caught up on my favorites first 😉

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3059 comments It looks like I need to read/watch this one. I like dark, sick stories.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15059 comments Mod
It doesn’t get much darker than this one!

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 277 comments It is dark and sick so I may give it another go. Maybe I'll even make my husband watch it with me to see what he thinks. Muahahahaha

Laura I’ve started the show ( I’m only on 2nd episode)and I’m finding Beck more likable and sympathetic here then she was in the book. ( So far anyway)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15059 comments Mod
Keep us updated.

Laura Jonetta wrote: "Keep us updated."

I sure will.
My son started season 2 says it’s great. (He did not read either book.)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15059 comments Mod
Aach! I’ve been so busy I forgot season 2 had started.

Laura Jonetta wrote: "Aach! I’ve been so busy I forgot season 2 had started."

He watched the whole thing yest. Only came out of his room to get food. No PS4 so you know it was awesome.

Laura I just read that the author is finishing up book 3 and has a deal already for the 4th.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15059 comments Mod
Yes!!!

I feel a binge coming on New Year’s Day.

Patty | 750 comments I watched the 1st episode tonight. Season 2 is off to a good start!
I have not read the books.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15059 comments Mod
I’ve read both books. In season #1, they made changes (I read a summary of the differences) but they nailed the important characterizations so well it wasn’t noticeable until the ending.

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 277 comments Ok, ok I give the show has me and hubby hooked. I even have my kids wanting to watch as well. LOL I'm in the beginning of the 2nd season.

Whoa the 2nd season is what a twist especially with the surprise!

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3059 comments I started watching this series, and I like it a lot. I'm on episode 6 so far. I will finish season 1 tomorrow.

Great to hear, Sharon!

Laura I finished season one and started season 2. I was into it so I kept going. I’ll read the book after. I really liked it. I hated Beck in the book, liked her on the show.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15059 comments Mod
The casting in the first season was great!

I still haven’t started the second season.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15059 comments Mod
The series is renewed for Season 3!

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3059 comments That's good news. I enjoy watching the show. I only watch a few episodes a week to stretch out the time. I usually binge, like Jack Ryan and Bosch, then I'm disappointed I miss it.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15059 comments Mod
I know! I’m really missing Bosch right now. Three more months...

FYI, I dragged out Jack Ryan but we finished it last week🙁

Laura Anyone done with season 2? I almost am but had to shut it off. I’m stressed at who is now in the cage. 😮😮😮

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15059 comments Mod
Still haven’t started...

Laura Jonetta wrote: "Still haven’t started..."

You need to, I am so into it, but I don’t want to finish it too fast, but now my book hold came in so I need to finish it.

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 277 comments Oh you need to. It’s actually crazy good. Hahaha

Laura I finished season 2 and then went right into the book. They are completely different so doesn’t matter what order you do them. I admit I liked The book but I loved the show more. I wonder why the need to stray so far from the book.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15059 comments Mod
I don’t pretend to understand the translation between the two mediums. I read an interview Michael Connelly did on the topic, discussing the Bosch book and TV series, and it was enlightening. There were serious points of view that made sense and I just found the process was thoughtful and based on their experience in knowing what works and doesn’t. So, I’ve decided to just trust they know what they’re doing and why.

Laura As an author writing the next book does she have blinders on with regards to the show? I haven’t read much about show and if she consults because I didn’t want spoilers. Now I can investigate. She must have a vision for Joe going forward but what a hard job to keep the two separate.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15059 comments Mod
She wrote the second book before the TV series was developed.

Laura Jonetta wrote: "She wrote the second book before the TV series was developed."

I’m talking about third book.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15059 comments Mod
Sorry about that!

Per imbd, she has writing credits for both seasons, 20 episodes. Not sure if she’ll write a third book but she said “maybe” when I asked about two years ago.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15059 comments Mod
Per the author’s website, it says she’s currently writing the third book in the “Joe Goldberg” series.

Laura Jonetta wrote: "Here’s the imbd link:

Thanks for the link.

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ | 277 comments I read the 2nd book and I wasn't tok crazy about it. I did get my daughter and her boyfriend hooked on the show. They are enjoying the craziness. Lol

Jeanette (jenb_73) | 159 comments Ya'll... I just now started watching the series. OMG! So dark and sick, but I am also hooked! I will have to check out the book as well. The hubby and I are both watching it.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15059 comments Mod
I loved the book but also loved the first season.

message 49: by TinaNoir (new)

TinaNoir | 106 comments I an halfway through season 3 and I am enjoying it. There is a LOT of dark humor, moreso than the two previous seasons and a couple of break-out supporting characters.

message 50: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3059 comments I need to start watching.
