Jessica, I messed up! I inadvertently got Impulse instead of Identical and just realized it today. My library doesn't have a copy so I had to order it. Usually it takes around 4=5 days unless I'm not first in the queue. I am thinking of buying it but it's around $9, so I thought of going Barnes & Noble to read it there but I'm so time-constrained. I don't know what to do right now. LOL

Oh no! Is it available for cheaper on your ereader?

No, that is the ereader price: B&N (NOOK) $8.99 and Amazon for Kindle $8.29. I am SO sorry!!! I could go buy it and I would if I couldn't get it from the library at all.

How are you enjoying it?

It's really okay, don't worry about it! I'm enjoying it a lot so far. I'll probably end up finishing it tonight. If you're still planning on reading it soon I'd love to discuss it once you get into it.

Did anybody else start this today?

I don't know if you know what this book is about, but the topics are so tough in it. It's truly disgusting what the character has to go through. It's almost uncomfortable to read.

I know the twins have secrets and I think abuse is involved, but I don't know specifics.

The only other Ellen Hopkins book I've read so far is Tilt and I don't remember a lot of it but I do know that this one is much more powerful. I'm just over half way through it now.

She is an excellent writer. Crank is based in part on her own daughter's experiences with drug addictions.

I'm about 30 pages away from finishing and there was just a HUGE plot twist that I did not see coming! This is an amazing book. I think you'll love it, Vicki.

I will probably end up buying it because I am 2nd in the queue. But I'll check with the library at the school I work at to see if I can get it there first.

You should PM Ellen Hopkins on GR! I used to buy her books for my two oldest grandkids all the time, and I emailed her to tell her how much they loved it and she emailed (PM'd) me in return. :o)

BTW I also PM'd Lisa Genova who wrote Still Alice because that book changed my life!!! She also responded to my message. Now there is a movie that just came out that's based on her book!

is about a woman who is brilliant, teaches linguistics at Harvard University, and ends up with early onset Alzheimer's. It shows the progression of her decline in the ability to manipulate the English language, find words she needs, know who her family is, etc.

I am not sure how you (someone your age) would enjoy it. Lisa Genova was also a scientist (can't remember the specific field but neurological or something). I bawled my eyes out when I read it and it was the impetus for me to read the way I do now.

She used to sell her books out of the trunk of her car because she she couldn't get publishers to buy the rights.

That actually sounds pretty interesting! But it does seem like something I'd appreciate and enjoy more when I'm older.

Yes, it's definitely not anything close to YA or paranormal. LOL But it's impeccably written, beautiful and moving. But a fair amount of medical/scientific terms and explanations that went over my head. LOL

Haha! I'm really interested in medicine and science so that's definitely a plus in my opinion.

I'm still hoping to get to this one soon.
