Our second group read for January is Horrorstor by Grady Hendrix. Please remember to use page numbers, percentages read and spoiler tags.

i love Grady Hendrix and i think this book is great but i won't be rereading it just yet. I hope everyone loves it.

This is officially one of my top 5 horrors of all time. I don't think I'll get to re-read but I'll be following along the conversation.

Oooooh this one is SO GOOD. I probably won't reread either but I'll definitely stick around to see what everyone thinks haha. Enjoy!!

I read this one earlier in the year, it's a fun little story. I wouldn't count it among my favourite horror books but it's worth a read. Hope you all have fun with it!

I've never read this one! I've had it on my Kindle for a few years, so it being a group read will be a good incentive for me to finally read it.

Haha, well we're all entitled to not liking something right? I just was curious, I think it looks creative in story just as much as the cover but we'll see I guess. This thread may be very lively this month apparently lol

Horrorstor will be my first group read and virginal trip with Grady. Ordered a copy. Any advise for a first timer? Group,not Grady. See ya next month.

I've had this in my tbr for way too long. I'm going to my best to squeeze it into the reading schedule.

Managed to find a used copy the other day. Can't wait to give this a read with everyone. 😁

I can join this one! I was able to check out a copy from my library. This has been on my TBR list for a while. I'm so excited!

I finished the book. I ended up enjoying it! I don't understand the group rules so much yet. I'll follow along and I'll wait and see as I don't want to give away any spoilers. So much to share lol I will say that I'm glad I stuck with it. This was my first Grady Hendrix book and I now look forward to reading more from him.

Latasha, you explained that so well--it took me forever to learn how to use them, and even then, couldn't "explain" it well to others!

Got my copy. Not sure I understand how to do the spoiler tag thing. I'll comment on general style and terror sans spoiler details until I figure spoilers out, by watching how the other folks do it.

I started reading this (slightly early) as I’m currently hospitalised and getting bored out of my brain. Just finished the first chapter. Liking it so far.

I read Horrorstör earlier this year. The setting was a nice change and Hendrix knows how to play it for some jokes without losing the spookiness of the situation. The book wasn't a stand-out for me but it was entertaining. Hope you'll enjoy it!

I went ahead and started reading on this. So far I love the characters and the little illustrations. The protagonist works retail. I have worked retail most of my life and I can relate. I'm loving this book!

Perfectly describes what having depression while working a retail job is like. Love this book! I'd like to reread it, but my brother borrowed my copy almost 2 years ago and I don't think I'm ever going to get it back :(

Sorry for (very minor) spoilers, does anyone else think the situation with Carl was mishandled?

I started a little early. This is very entertaining so far.

Just in case anyone missed Melanie's comment above: it is definitely worth googling the Swedish/Norwegian names for things. Some of the meanings are pretty hilarious.

Alastor, to me the situation was definitely mishandled.

Less than a hundred pages to go with Randall Boyll's horror novel- Mongster. Then I start Horrorstor. Look forward to the back and forth banter.

I'm so excited to start this one. Trying to resist until tomorrow, but I mean... It's basically January now, right? 😂

Started reading Horrorstor today and have an overwhelming urge to go to IKEA...

I did end up starting it last night, but I only read a couple chapters. It was definitely triggering some latent PTSD I didn't realize I had from my time in retail. 😂

Buyer's remorse PTSD?

I read this in 2016 and look forward to reading your thoughts. I found it to be very creative as well as humorous, with some Lovecraftian themes as the story developed. I gave it a 3 star rating but neglected to post a review. I may just opt to re-read it depending on whether the favorable comments here persuade me to pick it up again.
