Rod (terez07) A listing of 12 Of The Best Science Fiction & Fantasy Television Series Of The Decade:

Did your favorite make the list?

message 2: by Trike (new)

Trike | 11206 comments Solid list overall.

I like that you included dark horses like the criminally underrated Killjoys, but I would’ve included Travellers over Continuum for time travel goodness.

I would’ve included The Handmaid’s Tale because it feels terrifyingly relevant these days.

Also The Flash for its exuberant positivity.

Star Wars: Rebels instead of ST: Discovery for best representation of an SF franchise.

Jessica Jones for its unflinching look at trauma.

The Good Place for being brilliant and hilarious.

Galavant for the same reason.

Phil | 1455 comments My choices would also have included The Good Place and Galavant. I also think The Magicians deserves a spot along with Daredevil and Luke Cage.

message 4: by Viola (new)

Viola | 188 comments The only one I've seen on that list is ST: Discovery. Only seen two episodes and I have some minor issues.

I agree about the Handmaid’s Tale— I was surprised it wasn’t mentioned.

Stephen Richter (stephenofskytrain) | 1640 comments The Magicians just do not get any love. Season 5 is starting up January 15 . Star War Rebels should be the new standard for Star Wars.

Where is Star Wars Rebels available to watch?

The list would have been more helpful if it said where all the shows were available to watch (it only listed that for some of them).

Rebels is (was?) on The Disney Chanel. It's now on Disney+

It's funny how some people forget about superheroes & other stuff based on comics when thinking about SF&F.

I think these are worthy: The Mandalorian, Legion, Preacher, The Boys, Mr. Robot is turning out to be SF too! There are so many more, but I have a life to live. ha ha

I'm watching Star Wars Rebels for the first time. It's a terrific addition to the SW canon.

Russian Doll

Animated:
Disenchantment
Love, Death & Robots
Rick & Morty
Undone
Legend Of Korra

message 12: by Stephen (new)

Stephen Richter (stephenofskytrain) | 1640 comments I would add the Korean Drama "The Kingdom" on Netflix.

Oh so many good ones there, Tassie Dave. Thanks.
IMHO Russian Doll is superb -- great acting and funny as hell.

Another that hasn't got enough love is Wynonna Earp.

The Expanse (Amazon Prime)
Orphan Black (Prime)
The Good Place (Netflix)
SW Rebels (Disney+)

Joseph | 2433 comments My own list would have to include The Magicians.

message 16: by Kardo (new)

Kardo (bosskardo) | 48 comments I never got what's so special about Walking Dead. Seems OK that got worse. Like Lost.
Surprising how many of these I've just heard a couple of times but never thought of watching.

But Expanse is the best. No contest.

message 17: by jamako (last edited Jan 10, 2020 11:12PM) (new)

jamako (jann1k) | 51 comments My list would have The Orville instead of ST Discovery and Game of Thrones Season 1-4 instead of the whole thing, the drop-off in quality was just too severe and the later seasons mostly survived purely on one or two great episodes like The Door and The Battle of the Bastards. Also, I'd add The Handmaid's Tale, Utopia, Rick and Morty, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, Preacher, American Gods, and Legend of Korra. Critical Role would also make the cut for me, it is not a "TV" series but still serialized fantasy entertainment (and damn good fantasy entertainment I might add). The only ones I'd keep from the original list without a caveat are The Expanse and Black Mirror.

I haven't seen Killjoys, His Dark Materials, and Good Omens yet. Those look like they'd make the cut once I've seen them.

message 18: by Phil (new)

Phil | 1455 comments A big thumbs up for Critical Role. If I could only watch one thing each week, that would be it.

message 19: by John (Taloni) (new)

John (Taloni) Taloni (johntaloni) | 5196 comments Depends on the definition of "series." If it's "anything episodic on TV" then:

* Good Omens
* The Expanse
* Dr Who
* Luke Cage S1

But if it's only ongoing shows then I'd have to take out Good Omens and Luke Cage.

message 20: by ladymurmur (new)

ladymurmur | 151 comments The Middleman!

Like others, I'm glad to see Killjoys on that list. Some of the best storytelling on the small screen ever, as well as sharp, snappy dialogue.

In addition to the animated titles already mentioned, I'd add Futurama and Archer.

Also, Futurama and Archer.

message 21: by Kev (new)

Kev (sporadicreviews) | 667 comments To be fair, the article is twelve "of the best"... not The Twelve Best.

I love everyone suggesting Star Wars Rebels! This is the way.

I like seeing Continuum get some recognition. Great show.

A lot of good stuff on that list, and so much more in the comments!

I never watched the last season of Killjoys. And I really like Aaron Ashmore and Hannah John Kamen.

I agree with Trike - Travellers should be on a list. But along with Continuum, not in place of. (During the first season of Travellers, I wanted the Director to turn out to be Kiera from Continuum.)

Golden Age of Genre TV and all...

I tried to get into Russian Doll, but it just didn't stick with me...what am I missing?

A sense of humour? ;-)

(j/k) ;-P

It's not for everyone. We all have different tastes. I am constantly amazed at what other people find funny or enjoyable.

I loathe with a passion Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey's style of comedy.

I'm not a huge fan of any of those people either. There have been Will Ferrel movies that I have liked, but I couldn't care less for the other two and even Will is iffy for me.

I hate the turkey song! There, I said it.

Also, I loved Carnival Row. It would make my personal list.
