Erin (Bluestocking Bookworm) (bluestockingbookworm) | 353 comments January 10 start dste for Reincarnationist :)

If wanted, I can do some breakdowns of each book.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments I thought I might start the first book this week. Anyone else?

Cynthia (cynthiab) Hey Lisa - I have a couple of books to finish this weekend, but I'm definitely getting to it this week.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Good one, Cynthia. I've got one to finish then I'll start.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Chapters 1-14

For some reason I thought this was going to be a heavy going book but am quite pleased it is a bit lighter than I imagined. (view spoiler)

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Up to Chapter 45.

There are a lot of threads running through this with all the past lives of various characters but I haven't quite worked out how they all intersect yet.

I'm not sure what I think about this book yet, it's hovering around a 3.5 read at the moment. I'll wait till the end to comment.

Cynthia (cynthiab) Chapters 1-14 (view spoiler)

I think it would go a lot faster if there was less repetition about reincarnation. A lot of stuff is said over and over. In Chapter 14, Josh talks about a quote from the Dali Lama helping him, but we aren't given the quote.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments I finished it.

Cynthia (cynthiab) Lisa, I'm trying to talk myself into continuing on. While the premise is great, the execution is poor. This book needs an experienced editor.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments YES.. Cynthia. You've hit the nail on the head. Were they self published I wonder?

Cynthia (cynthiab) Probably so. I own the first one, which means I probably got it as an Amazon freebie. I certainly wouldn't have paid for it, because it's much more romancey than anything I would buy (I may read a romance, but I don't like them enough to spend $ on them).

I do find it's easy to skim. She/he/author repeats so much and goes on at such length that I don't fell bad skimming. It's like reading a magazine article while my mother tells a story over the phone.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Interestingly enough, I am a major romance reader. And it didn't really make the grade in that area either.

Cynthia (cynthiab) I'm not denigrating the romance, or trying to imply I'm too whatever for it. It's just not my genre. That's almost all my sister reads, so it's a shame. But she won't read my sci-fi, either.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Cynthia, I read everything from romance to sci-fi to pure historicals. If there are words on a page, I can't help myself.

Cynthia (cynthiab) We were pretty poor tightly budgeted when I first got married, and I didn't have extra money for books. I had a set of encyclopedias, though. And a big old fat dictionary.

I don't know when I got so picky.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Not picky, just discerning!
