I thought I might start the first book this week. Anyone else?

Hey Lisa - I have a couple of books to finish this weekend, but I'm definitely getting to it this week.

Chapters 1-14

For some reason I thought this was going to be a heavy going book but am quite pleased it is a bit lighter than I imagined. (view spoiler)[ I'm not really into the whole reincarnation thing but the plot between the two times is engaging and I'm quite liking the main character Josh Ryder. (hide spoiler)]

Up to Chapter 45.

There are a lot of threads running through this with all the past lives of various characters but I haven't quite worked out how they all intersect yet.

I'm not sure what I think about this book yet, it's hovering around a 3.5 read at the moment. I'll wait till the end to comment.

I was initially thinking that the woman in New York could be Sabina, but it looks more like Gabby is Sabina. One thing I think for sure - the New York woman (is her name Rebecca?) is experiencing 'unforgettings' and her uncle is behind the left of the memory stones.

I think it would go a lot faster if there was less repetition about reincarnation. A lot of stuff is said over and over. In Chapter 14, Josh talks about a quote from the Dali Lama helping him, but we aren't given the quote.

This has been on my shelf forever, I'm tempted to join in...hmmm....

This is one of those books that you want to like more than you do. All the elements of a great book were there but it just didn't quite get there for me. A fair few story threads that seemed to get a bit tangled up (pardon the pun)and the writing wasn't quite sharp enough. I'd rate it a 3-3.5 star read. (hide spoiler)]

Lisa, I'm trying to talk myself into continuing on. While the premise is great, the execution is poor. This book needs an experienced editor.

YES.. Cynthia. You've hit the nail on the head. Were they self published I wonder?

Probably so. I own the first one, which means I probably got it as an Amazon freebie. I certainly wouldn't have paid for it, because it's much more romancey than anything I would buy (I may read a romance, but I don't like them enough to spend $ on them).

I do find it's easy to skim. She/he/author repeats so much and goes on at such length that I don't fell bad skimming. It's like reading a magazine article while my mother tells a story over the phone.

Interestingly enough, I am a major romance reader. And it didn't really make the grade in that area either.

I'm not denigrating the romance, or trying to imply I'm too whatever for it. It's just not my genre. That's almost all my sister reads, so it's a shame. But she won't read my sci-fi, either.

Cynthia, I read everything from romance to sci-fi to pure historicals. If there are words on a page, I can't help myself.

We were pretty poor tightly budgeted when I first got married, and I didn't have extra money for books. I had a set of encyclopedias, though. And a big old fat dictionary.

I don't know when I got so picky.
