Oooh I like this idea!
My suggestion for October is obviously 'horror' 😉
And maybe 'mystery/thriller' for November?

March: Sports related maybe? March Madness and all...
April: Books about new beginnings
May:Books about mothers
June: Books about fathers
July: Books about freedom/summer nights
August: Stories about schools/students
September: Books about travel as I think fall is a gorgeous time to travel
October: Horror/Monsters/Ghosts
November: Stories about families maybe as its the start of holiday seasons
December: Christmas/Holidays/Winter-Snow
Sounds good! Keep the ideas coming! They dont have to be a genre either. Broad themes also would work

Can we have the october theme a bit broader than horror? Just because if there's anyone else like me I don't read horror books at all but read like paranormal romance with ghosts/vampires and other horror-type creatures.
I definitely think that the themes need to be quite broad or some people might find it difficult to think of some nominations. I know I would.

Horror can be whatever it is to you. But yeah I can update it. It just needs to have a "creepy" kind of aspect, whether its creatures, or dark fantasy or whatever.
There's an Incredible Kid Day in March or something like that, so maybe books about children or middle grade books or something? And then there's the obvious St. Patrick's day, so maybe magic or mythology?
Good ideas Lili! Should we make a poll for the choices and let the group choose or just go for one?

We can do a poll if you want, see what category they'd like to read most.

April is National Humor Month so maybe a funny book/a book with humor, and then April 2nd is Children's Book Day, so there's that too.

-Free Comic Book Day - read a comic book or even a graphic novel/manga (I know they're not the same thing but 🤷♀️ lol)
-National Brothers and Sisters Day - books where the sibling relationship plays a major role.
-National Paranormal Day - Books that are urban fantasy or paranormal romance or just have something paranormal in them.
-Cinco de Mayo - Books written by Mexican/Hispanic author or a book where the main character is Mexican/Hispanic or a book that takes place in Mexico.
-National Nurses Day - Books where the main character is in the medical field or a book mostly set in a medical facility.
-Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month - Books written by Asian authors or a book where the main character is Asian or a book that takes place somewhere in Asia.

-Mothers Day (for the rest of the world anyway, the UK does it in March)-Book about mothers or featuring a strong mother-child relationship
Those are some excellent choices!!
I think we should do something comic related for that month Lili wanna try and plan something? There's enough of us that read them. Probably wont use it for the monthly theme though.
I really like using May the Fourth be with you. But Cinco de Mayo is such a great idea too.... many choices yay!

That could be pretty cool, Brittany. Although I have to be honest, I haven't read a comic book probably ever. Lol.
Yes! I'm really liking the Cinco de Mayo one! And Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month too!

comics/manga/graphic novels could do something for all of them? I dont know... Let's think on it.
I don't know why I didn't think of it before, it's pretty great if I do say so myself 😉 Lol. Last month I bought
and it sounds incredible! I am definitely gonna be reading it in May! Hopefully 😅

Fathers Day-A book about dads/with a strong father/child relationship.
National Higher Education Day-Books set at/with characters in University
Aquarium Month/World Ocean Day: Books set at sea or near a body of water or books about sea creatures such as mermaids!
Gay Pride Month: Books with a LGBTQ+ protagonist.
Summer: Books set during summer/summer vacation.

-July 1st is Canada Day, so maybe a book set in Canada or written by a Canadian author? Could do a similar thing for US Independence Day
-International Joke Day-Books that are funny?

Thanks! So many authors I read come from the US, thought it might be nice to discover some Canadian ones too :)
Oooh I love the idea of Canadian authors, too!
Some more suggestions:
World UFO Day: sci-fi books/books about aliens.
Moon Day: sci-fi books/books set in space... this one and the first one pretty much go hand in hand, I think 🤷♀️ lol.
National Bikini Day/Shark Awareness Day: beachy reads/books set at the beach/ocean.
Video Games Day: there are a lot of sci-fi books out there with a VR premise to them (like Ready Player One), so maybe something like that?
Bastille Day: books set in France.

Poll for July is up.
Unless anyone has any objections, I think for August I am going to do a runner up poll.
