Therese Brink | 4 comments I have parts of this read thisand gave up because I already knew a lot of the information. I will complete and probably will learn a thing or two in the process.

Therese Brink | 4 comments On chapter 2. The War on Drugs is even more depressing than I thought. The section on SWAT raids was horrifying. I am glad that the state I live in has decriminalized marijuana and is going to expunge thousands of crimal records of people convicted of simple possession of small amounts of marijuana. Majority of people convicted were people of color. So this will help restore some justice to the system.

L Y N N (book_music_lvr) | 2389 comments As I recall, she states there is proof of the FBI running drugs into "ghetto" areas where people of color tend to live. Am I misremembering?

Therese Brink | 4 comments I didn't catch that. I did a search for FBI in my kindle book and I didn't see anything regarding the FBI and drug running.

Oops! My bad! Evidently got that from another nonfiction book...of course, now I wonder WHICH one! :)

Therese Brink | 4 comments Almost done with this book. She has some interesting thoughts on affirmative action.

message 10: by Therese (new)

Therese Brink | 4 comments Finished. HIghly recommended. Not only does she identify the causes of mass incarceration, but she has some ideas on what to do about it.

This is a very informative book. I hope you read it regardless of whether you do this as a buddy read or not.

Truly very informative! I’m more than 50% done and tbh, this book has changed my perspective towards everyday things. I’m shocked as to how before reading this book, I felt racism and casteism were ‘almost’ things of the past. And now I can’t prevent myself from feeling sad and angry at the same time!

Therese Brink | 4 comments I finished this book and it is excelent. I am so glad that IL decriminalized pot and is going to expunge the records of low-level pot offenders. The War on Drugs needs to end,
