What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

Hi, I read this about 30 years ago. it is a collection of stories for English Class. The story is about a boy whose father had a traumatic childhood due to his name. Therefore, when he had his sons, he decided to let them name themselves when they reach twelve years of age. The older son was name SON, and the story is being told from the perspective of the younger son name BOY.

Does anyone know who wrote this story or where can i find it? thank you in advance
