#49 doesn't look like anybody but my aunt and it surely isn't her. She looks matronly but is she or is it just the picture?
No, #49 is a true stunner in her younger roles; but I can't find a good photo of her which isn't autographed or in some other way, revealing the answer. But here's one more of her (Madame #49)

ahaha, #48 and #49 are both mega-famous British stars. I think they were both 'Dames' in fact, not sure.
Just tossin' in a couple 'ringers' to mix things up a little round here.
Anyway, good job...

#46 (the auburn-haired tootsie) has a star on the Walk of Fame.
Wanda Hendrix is an excellent guess but nope.

#46, her bio is quite varied. It's surprised me. She was wildly famous but I sure never heard of her. Just happens not be in any of my favorite films. A musical-comedy star and also was huge on Broadway. Still, it's odd.
#46 started out as a singer for the Hollywood Canteen. During her film career she could (and did) tour as a cabaret singer. She became a favorite of US airmen and she even did things like christen ships. Again, I'm amazed at how famous she was and I never knew her name before this week. I might not know obscure stars but hard to imagine how someone as famous as this, never even crossed my attention ever. The number of nights I've stayed up watching the Late Show? sheesh
no and no ...interesting picks but nope
remember #45 is a British comedy actress who got one shot in an American noir and she nailed it as a bad girl; probably would've gone on to make many more noirs but we'll never know.

She was active in comedy between '35 and '40; then between '40 and '45 she had only four roles. Her excellent 'bad girl' performance came in '46 and then her final role was oddly enough was in a movie set in Africa which seemed to have nothing at all to do with all of her previous career
Fully credited; and though it was just a mostly-forgotten about B-Noir she was said to have briefly portrayed the coldest-ever femme fatale ever seen
this praise is maintained by some aficionados, even though we earlier looked at another noir icon, that Hazel Brooks

Not sure what other clues to divulge on #45. Just bear in mind she was a big, big, musical-comedy Broadway star. Singing, dancing, everything.

in a way the more glamorous-looking stars/starlets are harder to pin down than the often kooky-seeming 'supporting character' players who usually have memorable eyebrows or limps or quirky mouths / noses

#50 - Peggy Knudsen?
#51 - Mary Carlisle?
BTW, would it be possible to have a couple of men in the quiz?
aye. I've been trying to find more males to inject into these proceedings. it's just not been so easy.
no banana so far on #50 and #51
