Hugh Williams for sure. Co-author with his wife of 'The Grass is Greener' starring Kerr, Grant, Simmons, and Mitchum.
Stellar sleuthing

He was also in 'David Copperfield' and (every woman should know this) he was in 'Wuthering Heights'

and of course, you admit you're not a fan of romance movies so maybe this is an extenuating circumstance

I see. The trail led from 'stage play' to 'movie with Kerr'; then figure out who the writer was.
You're not a fan of, 'A Farewell to Arms' then eh?

Yes, winnah on #68. Deft!
Frank Overton is one cool dude. Never realized how much famous stuff he appeared in. What a quintessential 'American' character he is. That dry, flat, dusty, unsentimental voice of his.
No to Bonita. Y'know, Miss Granville has been suggested as a 'mystery guest' in this quiz now, on more than just one occasion. Frankly, I have no especial interest in Bonita. She rarely figures in my thoughts. Take my word for it, she will never appear in this quizzo!

#66 looks like Billie Burke but is probably too young.

#67 looks a bit familiar.

Above, I tried to sum up all the won challenges so far. By gobs, all the numbers are haywire. How'd that happen? Why didn't anyone alert me? Maybe I didn't number each challenge as I went along? It's too late to go back and change them now...

I didn't even notice it. Thanks for the new summary.
I would like to request that you put "American" or "British" on the new pictures if that is the country where they achieved fame.....it helps in the detective work if we don't recognize the person immediately. :>)

Nope. p.s. I think it is safe to say that #66 and #69 were both mega-famous in their day. #66 in the 1940s and #69 in the 1920s. No doubt further pictures will make the shoe drop.
No to Negri. Good guess though.
And allow me to correct myself: #66 was mega-famous but it's better stated that #69 was considered one of the most beautiful silent stars. She was no bit-player but I can't quite claim she was as mega-famous as #66.

My next guess on #69 who is the vamp......Evelyn Brent.

Yes. You saw a-rightly. I made a mistake Friday evening; I posted a fresh #69 but I didn't realize he was Warren Hymer, a figure you already know very well.
No 'giveaways' in this quizzo!

Nice try because I always admired Lane's looks and her comedienne skills.
But this particular blonde is more of a noted singer and dancer; she was groomed by MGM similarly to the manner of Rooney and Garland. Her idols growing up were Jeanette MacDonald and Clark Gable --both of whom she got to meet one day.

I had thought # 67 (young cowboy) was a bit more famous (with more movie roles to his name) but he is really quite obscure. TV roles primarily. Notable accomplishments; just one Golden Globe award for a support role in one decent film. There 's no way you would likely know him.
I think I will drop him. It's actor "Lee Kinsolving".
What I want to do instead is substitute this lad for slot #67. This is the actor who I thought "Lee Kinsolving" was.

That's correct! Easy win eh? Skippy Homeier it is. I wanted him in this quiz because of his role in 'The Gunfighter' as the man who guns down Peck's Jimmy Ringo.
