Who has two thumbs and a Kindle book out for preorder?

Fancy new Goodreads page, too!

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Official release date is February 2nd, 2015.

Here's the Blurb:

He’s a novice time traveler in a big universe.

Ben just wants time with the scientist’s daughter who got him into this, but when he’s rooked into competing in a chronothon–an Amazing Race through time–getting the girl means he’ll need to make the finish line. When he finds out this competition is more than just a sprint through history, winning takes a back seat to surviving. To save the people he loves, he’ll have to conquer the real dangers hidden in the shadows of the chronothon.

The world of time travelers expands in this next installment of the In Times Like These series. Fans of book one will find more to love, but new readers can jump right in and enjoy this stand-alone story. Expect action, adventure, and romance on this journey through past and future. Fresh dangers will arise for Ben and company in a quest for the finish line, where failure to keep up will cost more than just a shot at glory—it could mean the end for them all.

I'm probably irking some Canadians, too, but the post office's customs fees are a bit harsh on a ten book giveaway. I'll be sure to do a lower volume contest and include our international friends. The first time I did a fifteen book giveaway, at least half went international. I think my wallet actually cried.

Mark Speed (markspeed) | 131 comments That's interesting - normally it's the recipient who pays import duty. We don't have VAT / Sales tax on books here. Also, if you mark them as 'gift' on the customs form the recipient is less likely to have to pay duty.

Other funny thing is that 80% of all my winners are always in North America - but you're having 50% abroad. There must be a Goodreads algorithm that calculates how best to fleece the author!

As far as I know, recipients pay nothing in this giveaway scenario. The sender foots the entire bill. Happily, of course. (Only crying on the inside.) Goodreads winners are usually pretty good at leaving reviews, so it all works out. Seems we have a well mannered crowd that way.

When shipping internationally depending on how and where you send it, most governments impose a brokerage fee and it must be paid by the recipient before it can be picked up.

The shipper can authorize to pay these charges be paid by them, however the charges almost seem to be arbitrary and can sometimes be excessive.

Mark Speed (markspeed) | 131 comments Below a certain amount the authorities don't care (seems to be about £50 in the UK). Also, you should mark winners' prizes as gifts - there's a check box on custom forms for this.

Good news. The Chronothon eBook will be free for the very first time this week from Monday-Friday in preparation for the launch of the third book of the series—meaning you can actually get the first two books of the series free.

Good week to start your adventure.
