Kara (karaayako) | 3984 comments How many books are you going to challenge yourself to read? Create your own discussion topic and tell us what your goal is. Then, throughout the year, track your progress.

How to create your discussion topic for your challenge
- Choose how many books you would like to read
- Go to the appropriate folder:
- 1-50 books
- 51-100 books
- 100+ books
- In the "topic" box, write the name of your topic (it should have both your name and the number of books you plan to read)
- In the comment box, write your first post

And you're all set! Post here if you have any questions.

Good luck to all!

Caro (karopi) | 995 comments I have a question.... Is not clear to me what is the exact difference between personal challenge and member corner.... I get the feeling that if I need to publish something it will be a duplicate one to the other. Can you please clarify a bit t me?

message 3: by Adriana (new)

Adriana | 3888 comments Personal challenge is where you update on the books you read throughout 2015. Member's corner is where you typically track all your challenges although, you don't need a member's corner. You can use the personal challenge to track your yearly, monthly, and quarterly challenges.

message 4: by Caro (new)

Caro (karopi) | 995 comments Thank you! I think i will think of just leave everything in the Personal Challenge, the reading challenge widget already tracks the amount of books I read. But I was kind of confuse between both.

James (james18) what is the reading challenge widget? thanks

message 6: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 9 comments There's a group for 2014 and 2015 challenge, and then one for just 2015. Which one should I be posting in?

Goodreads has a widget where you put how many books you want to read and it'll track your progress. You can put the widget on your website or blog. I'm pretty sure you can check out widgets in your profile page because there are more.

The 2015 one. Create a thread and put how much books you want to read this new year. This group's name will be changed to 2015 Reading Challenge in the New Year if you meant that.

Calvin Daniels | 1 comments All right I am just not finding the spot :) Where does one sign up for 2015 Reading Challenge. I was in the 2014, it tracked my total etc on page, nice challenge logo etc. No idea where to do that for this year.

message 21: by Cary (new)

Cary Ussery | 6 comments My goal in 2014 and moving forward is to read 1 book for each year of age (this year will be 53 haha). I try to focus on newer books and favorite authors but will track what the group here is doing as well. Just barely made it through 52 last year; full time schedule, young kids and all. So 53 books this year, starting with the new William Gibson novel.

That's a great goal, Cary! And let us know how that William Gibson book is.

Stormie ~ Book Dragon ~ (stormiebookdragon) | 108 comments Hello all, I am new here! I cannot believe I did not know about these reading challenges, being an avid reader and all. I haven't been on Goodreads as much as I like, but that is changing this year. I love to read most genres except heavy romance and erotica. I also am starting to write novels. But anyway, I am still on the first book for the year... The Book Thief by Markus Zusak I hope to have it finished today, as I have to return it to the library. But I have found a used bookstore in the area, so may buy my own copy. Oh and my goal is 150. I really go through books, so I set myself up for a BIG challenge! ;)

message 24: by Robyn (new)

Robyn | -15 comments wow stormie 150 books! what an awesome goal :) i wish you luck this year!

message 25: by Nadia (new)

Nadia Uhlenhaker | 170 comments My personal goal is 150 books this year. Last year I read about 110, so I figured it's time to amp it up a bit.

message 26: by Merja (new)

Merja (merjafrob) | 488 comments My personal goal is 30. Studying takes so much time that I don't have time or energy to read.

message 27: by Brianna Andreda (new)

Brianna Andreda | 268 comments My personal goal is 100 books this year again since I was about 20 books short of it last year. Hoping I can make it this year.

message 28: by Susan (new)

Susan | 3 comments Hi! This is my first reading challenge - but a die hard reader. I have a question -- and would appreciate any help with it. I have already read 7 books this year but they are not being counted in my challenge. Is there something I have to do?

message 29: by James (new)

James (james18) make sure your put a date that you finished and that your status is READ... at least I think.

message 30: by Susan (new)

Susan | 3 comments Hi James - the books I have read all show the date added. But they are still not showing up. Thanks for the help.

Hi Susan,

On your home page you have to mark that you are "Currently Reading" a certain book and then when you finish the book you mark it off as "Read" on your homepage. A box will pop up for you to rate the book and if you choose you can write a review. I hope that makes sense.

message 32: by Cassandra (last edited Jan 11, 2015 08:44PM) (new)

Cassandra | 5832 comments Susan, your books have a date added, but not a date read. If you look at this list of your books, you'll see that the "date read" column says "not set".

Jodi mentioned the easiest way for the books to get the "date read" added automatically, or you can go through and add them manually. Once your books have a "date read" that is in 2015, they will be counted for your challenge. Hope that helps!

message 33: by Mrstranck (new)

Mrstranck | 11 comments Question, and this may have been answered..do audio books "count"?

message 34: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra | 5832 comments Certainly! Anything that Goodreads counts as a book works for the challenge. That includes cookbooks, picture books, graphic novels, audiobooks, textbooks, and most other non-traditional books.

message 36: by Mary-jo (new)

Mary-jo | 18 comments Hi, my personal goal is 52 books for 2015, one a week. I've never read that much before but this list is inspiring. It has made me reach beyond my comfort zone and choose books I would have never considered. I think I can do it! Looking forward to discussing what I've read with all of you!

message 38: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra | 5832 comments Ana, I moved your corner to the 2015 folder.

message 39: by Mary-jo (new)

Mary-jo | 18 comments I noticed that some lists have the title of books in a lighter color and you can click onto the title for reference, reviews, etc. I've been trying to post my list with this feature, but can't seem to get it to work. I tried the add book/author tab above this box, but that doesn't work for me either. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

message 40: by Jodi (new)

Jodi (readinbooks) | 1971 comments Hi Mary-jo

You click on the "add book/author" tab above the box, like you did. Type in the name of the book you are looking for. Click on search. A box will open with book titles in it. Look for the book you are reading and click on add.

I was lucky to get the next book Scarlet, Lunar Chronicles on hold at my local library. I'm hoping Cinder rebuilds her sidekick.

JoJo Kirkman (jojo2013) | 813 comments Hi, I'm new to this group. I have just created my personal challenge thread, Jo's 80 books for 2015. I was wondering, is there a quick way (shortcut)to get to this thread from my home page?

message 50: by Jodi (new)

Jodi (readinbooks) | 1971 comments Hi Joanne,

Welcome to the group! The easiest way to get to your thread is to bookmark it or save it to your favourites. There is no way from Good Reads to quickly access it.
