My reading is rubbish lately I blame the internet ! I have a few author binges for 2021and a bingo and A to Z. What About you Karen?

In 2021, I want to do what I call a country study: read at least 5 books on a particular country. I decided that I have to read at least one history, one fiction that most people in that country have read, and a book that is often assigned in school. Next year I want to read about Russia. I am cheating somewhat, I have already started a Russian classic.
I cannot believe it's halfway through December! Because I didn't really get to go on vacations this year I decided to take off Christmas Eve until the new year. A way to reflect and reset. I'm trying to be strict with myself for all my 2021 goals, reading or otherwise.

I also start too many challenges. Last year I did one called Global Voices that was more diverse, like your country challenge.

Kat, I know what you mean about the Internet interfering with my reading, particularly goodreads and booktube, so many good videos to watch. Leane, you have picked some really good authors to finish up their series.

Nora Roberts and Debbie Macomber have a LOT more books. I'm slowly trying to get through them, but there's a lot of other great books out there.
I love your idea of reading by country!
About 4 years ago, I finished a read-around-the-world challenge. I found that after I read each country, I wanted to read more (in almost every case). I came up with the idea of doing a country study, reading 5 - 10 books on that country, to go in depth.

I like Silvia Moreno-Garcia and want to read all her books. Chilling Effect was a very funny space opera too with funny Spanish swear words. :-)
New Suns: Original Speculative Fiction by People of Color that I read for the POC Authors prompt. I also liked Binti that I read for the African prompt. I want to read more books by Nnedi Okorafor and N.K. Jemisin too.

This month was almost all dedicated to hearing and reading The Way of Kings
.What a trip! Worth it! I bought the next two books in the series and will read them next year.

I've heard so many great things about The Way of Kings but it definitely seems daunting to get in to reading.
Leane, Have you read anything by Brandon Sanderson? I would say if you have read Mistborn, Warbreaker, or Elantris, and you liked it/them, then you will have no problem with Way of Kings. I highly recommend it (as well as the rest of the series).

I want to, I hear amazing things about his books, but they are all long and I think I get intimidated by larger books/series.

Leane, great question. Yes, Sanderson is unable to write a short book (his last novella was 208 pages), but his writing is so good, that you don't notice the length. I read the books in this order, according to Goodreads:The Way of Kings (Stormlight Archive, book 1)
The first Mistborn Trilogy: The Final Empire, The Well of Ascension and The Hero of Ages
Elantris
Warbreaker
Words of Radiance (Stormlight Archive, book 2)
The Second Mistborn trilogy
Oathbringer (Stormlight Archive, book 3)
Skyward
Having said that, I would recommend reading Warbreaker first. it is almost 600 pages, but it is such a fast-paced read. Sanderson has created very different and interesting magic systems from traditional fantasy. Right now, Warbreaker is a standalone book. If you like that, then the Mistborn trilogy.
You could start with Skyward, which is really YA, but very well done (I gave it 5 stars). It is science-fiction, not fantasy, and not a part of the Mistborn/Stormlight Archive world. It will give you an idea of Sanderson's writing. The best part is that it is only 513 pages.

It is daunting, but I started it as an Audiobook, so I may do all shores while hearing it.
