Can you win giveaways if you are an author? I am set up as an author. I have had one short story published. Can I still win giveaways as an author or does that hurt my chances?

Yes, you can. Recently another author won one of my books and was kind enough to leave a nice review.

I still dream to win one day.
I wrote 25 books, but always determine the age at home ..
I no longer participated in competitions..

Yeah, I won a few times when I first started using goodreads (posted a timely review) but something happened to kick me off the "variables" formula. I thought maybe it had something to do with changing my status to author.
