The girl at the funeral, the dead sister's sister, did it. She wanted the guy to come to that funeral so she could see him again!

Well, the riddle was all to clear on how she never could contact the man, therefore proving she'd do much of anything to contact him again. If the man was a family friend or he knew the mother, he'd most likely go to the mother's daughter's funeral. Also, if it wasn't the man, the only other option would be her sister. Correct?
