"In my defense, the brandy was plentiful, and the pantaloons were loose.”
“The handsome farm boy didn’t die yet.”

The handsome farm boy never dies in Victorian novels. Instead, the debutante falls in love with him but has resigned herself to basically prostituting herself to the much older, overweight, and unattractive Marquess in order to save her family from financial ruin. But then, at the last minute, they find out that the handsome farm boy is actually a Duke. So she leaves the Marquess in her dust, marries the handsome farm boy/Duke for love, AND she saves her family.

That was my pick, too. 😂

Which is your fave? I'm having a hard time settling on just one, but at the moment it's "In my defense, the brandy was plentiful, and the pantaloons were loose.” Probably given our recent sobriety discussions!
