B. Eugene B. (b-eugene-b) | 5 comments I was messaged by someone to send them a PDF of my book for their review, as they "don't log in to Goodreads often." This sounded weird, especially if they are a reviewer, so I have to ask the group, what would you do?

Peter Martuneac | 57 comments Ignore. I've gotten such emails before and it's usually not on the up-and-up, especially if they don't link to a blog or anything where you can actually see their work.

Devin | 1 comments I wouldn't touch that. sounds super sketchy.

Kat (katwiththehat) | 2277 comments I get those once a week. Block them and report the account to GR.

If you click on their account, you'll usually notice it's been made private so you can't see much, but from what you can see they won't have much review or rating activity.

A real reviewer would be on GR regularly, have an active, public profile you could check out, plenty of friends and followers, and a lengthy history of reviewing and rating books. These scam accounts never do.

Dalton Smith | 11 comments It's spam I have received the same email. If you look at the email they sent it to it went to undisclosed emails. So just erase it. The person sent the same email to you to hundreds of other people. What they will do is if you respond to them is offer you reviews if you pay them.

Dalton Smith | 11 comments The issue is this goes against Amazon. Also Amazon removes fake reviews anyway. Now it's much better to have like 20 organic reviews from verified purchasers than to have 500 fake reviews when Amazon finds out you will have maybe 2 reviews left.
So just ignore them if you can get their email report them.

B. Eugene B. (b-eugene-b) | 5 comments I definitely wouldn't pay for reviews but am really hoping to get a review here on Goodreads! (couldn't resist making a small plug for "B. Coming Burl", my first book.

B, there are several great options for getting reviews here! One is to join one of the review rounds (there's currently one group still forming although there have been several sign ups in the past few days so there may be enough people now to form a round--not sure there)--but in any case, new rounds start up every month and you just need to check back regularly and look for a group that says "now forming" in the title to join.

Another option is the one for one review list. For this one, just select a book currently on the list, read and review it on GR/Amazon, then post your links in the thread and the mod will add your book to the list in its place where someone may choose it to review. No waiting required!

B. Eugene B. (b-eugene-b) | 5 comments Thank you Kat! I just signed up for the review group you recommended and look forward to it! Do I start reading other's work now or is there an official "start" to the process I should wait for?
Burl
