Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 8077 comments An article in Scientific Reports states that brain-brain interfaces (BBI) and brain-machine interfaces (BMIs) have already helped improve how people control prosthetics. Now it can work the other way. A machine can alter brain patterns in rats. Here's how it works. A human has movement-related thoughts which a wearable EEG picks up and transfers to a computer, which the computer translates into control instructions and wirelessly beams into a receiver on the back of a rat. The receiver then sends them into the rat's brain via electrodes, and the rat responds by doing the action. What do you think will be the future implications of this research for humans, if any?

Nik Krasno | 19855 comments I guess this solves the issue of taming pets. Soon they will come with joysticks. No need to train them to bring back the ball anymore and one can guide his/her mouse to destroy neighbor's crops :)
Now seriously, the endgame are, of course, humans. Controllable humans isn't it the wet dream of some (all?) regimes?
