Alp Mortal Have you peaked as an author or do you still feel that you have places to go? I wonder if we can judge ourselves in the same way as an athlete would judge their improvement? I know that my writing technique has probably improved over the course of the last 6 years (and my grammar was appalling and now it is just averagely abysmal). But do I feel that I can actually write - fundamentally - a better story?

That's the tough one for today ... can you improve and if so, what would you like to improve and how are you planning to improve it?

Twelve days to Christmas - relax; buy gift cards ...

Paul (pbuzz) | 95 comments Yes, I have a lot of room for improvement. Like you, over the past six months, Already I can see large improvements in both, my style and grammar. Even small but poignant comments from people, some research and reading various sourced material and simply continuing with writing can be helpful.

I would generally like to improve everything. When I've completed the story that I'm currently working on, I am seriously considering including a small segment - like a glossary, that indicates the manner in which I've used the various ellipses. (I think they're marvellous and dynamic little creations) This would be in addition to the use of slang. I'll keep it as simple as I can for myself. (The KISS method - ha ha) :) I will continually work on spelling etc.

Philip (phenweb) | 258 comments Friends have told me that my writing has got better (whatever that means), I think that is difficult to judge as my stories are in different genres therefore comparison is more difficult.

I hope that the qualitative writing aspects have improved i.e. I catch most mistakes in grammar and typos before more formal editing. I still have a long way to go!

Other aspects that I have improved are the publishing process, but I still fail abysmally at marketing.
