message 10: by Greg (new)

Greg | 383 comments Half way through. The Audible edition is narrated by RC Bray and that man can make a grocery list riveting. So far it’s a pretty entertaining read.

Latasha (latasha513) | 11980 comments Mod
That’s good to hear Greg. I’ll be listening to it.

message 12: by Greg (new)

Greg | 383 comments Just realized it's Baxter month. Dog's name is Baxter in Hell Hound and the Author of The Roo is also a Baxter.

Just finished the audio book. It was a fun little read. Since The Roo is another short one I may "hop" into that one as well.

message 13: by Alastor (new)

Alastor Moopy (zeenia) | 82 comments My library has an ebook available so I'll be joining in. This sounds like a fun group read

Our theme next month will be books written by, or featuring characters named "Baxter".

Like in the teenage mutant ninja turtles cartoon?! The fly guy!?

message 16: by Matthew (new)

Matthew (mattical) I have this on audio so I'll join in at the end of the week if it's not too late!

message 17: by Greg (new)

message 22: by Kelly B (new)

Kelly B (kellybey) | 630 comments This is a good one! It made me glad we've always had cats instead of a dog, lol ;-).

K.L. Phelps (kl_phelps) | 180 comments planning on starting it this upcoming weekend when I go on vacation

message 24: by Ryan (new)

Ryan Johnson (whatryansreading) | 16 comments Sweet, was planning to pick it up anyways, waiting for me at the library as we speak.

message 25: by Greg (new)

Greg | 383 comments Has anyone seen the film adaptation of this. “Baxter” it’s a French film. Is it any good?

message 26: by Chandler (new)

Chandler | 254 comments I read this in one sitting last night. I'm still processing it. I love dogs so I'm not entirely sure what I think yet. But I will say, that is very well written and thought provoking. It's a shame Greenhall has all but faded into obscurity.

message 27: by K.L. (new)

K.L. Phelps (kl_phelps) | 180 comments found a bit of time this afternoon and was able to start reading...if I'd only had just an hour or so I'd likely have already finished. It's delightfully twisted.

I plan on starting this weekend!!

Sarah-Grace (Azrael865) (sarah-grace) | 185 comments I will be starting this today.

message 30: by Feli (new)

Feli (felifirefly) | 516 comments I will join and start this in a few days. I got a copy two years ago and haven't read it yet. It was missing in my subscription box and they send me a new one with 'missing hell hound' written on the declaration for customs. That was fun when I had to pick it up 😂

Not a lot of likable people, or critters, in this book.
It was a quick read once I had the time to sit down and go through it. But not quite the book for me. Something about it just didn't click.

message 32: by Justin (new)

Justin Ryan (mrjustinjryan) | 5 comments My copy just arrived. I'll be starting this one tonight.

I think I’m going to have to agree with Wendy on this one.

message 34: by Jill (new)

Jill | 17 comments I have it finally! Need to finish up the book I’m reading, then onward through to the dog! Looking forward to this book.

Sarah-Grace (Azrael865) (sarah-grace) | 185 comments I finished yesterday. I enjoyed it, although I didn't feel a connection to many of the characters either.

Tyler Gray (wickedjr89) | 936 comments I have just started it. I'm 16 pages in, not sure what to think of it yet.

I can't complain about the writing, but the subject matter was too much for me.

message 41: by Tyler (new)

Tyler Gray (wickedjr89) | 936 comments I finished. Gave it 3 stars...I think. I don't think I'll ever be rereading that.

message 42: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Furniss (kellyfurniss) | 3 comments I finished it and gave it four stars on Goodreads.
Quite unique and I kept wanting to read on to see if Baxter would ever get found out & what would happen to him.
Even though he obviously wasn’t a likeable dog the ending still shocked me. I quite liked the story because it was so different.

message 43: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Tucker | 23 comments This was a short and disturbing read...in a good way. I fear for future people that interact with Carl Fine since he seems to be a budding psychopath.

I really appreciate being introduced to the works of Greenhall. Definitely not anyone I had ever heard of and discoveries like this are exactly what I love about this group.
