callie (artsy_bibliophile) | 907 comments I will most definitely be finishing The Night Country (The Hazel Wood, #2) by Melissa Albert I started it this month, but had to set it down to prioritize other books. I have 244 pages left. I don't quite remember the rules for book started outside of March, so I have no idea what it would count for.

Other than that, I have no idea, I haven't given it much thought yet.

You'd only get page points for it :) but thats still okay!

message 12: by Mara (new)

Mara (mara97) | 468 comments Finally checking in! I probably will be finishing Warbreaker (Warbreaker, #1) by Brandon Sanderson in March since it's taking me longer than expected.

I'm reading a bit of a mixed bag of books next month, but my aim is to at least read these six:
Ruin and Rising (The Shadow and Bone Trilogy, #3) by Leigh Bardugo The Ruins of Gorlan (Ranger's Apprentice, #1) by John Flanagan The Burning Bridge (Ranger's Apprentice, #2) by John Flanagan Theatrical by Maggie Harcourt Traitor to the Throne (Rebel of the Sands, #2) by Alwyn Hamilton Princess Academy (Princess Academy, #1) by Shannon Hale

(also, is there a spreadsheet yet? I love me some good spreadsheets)

It's gonna need more slots to fit all our members but I can ask for that to be fixed :)

message 16: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments I'm gonna put the books I mentioned in the sheet already so we can see the spread of years we have planned!

message 17: by iana (new)

iana (ianaigot) | 311 comments thanks for that, Meaghan!

this is my (estimated) TBR for next month!:
On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong The Help by Kathryn Stockett Call Me By Your Name (Call Me By Your Name, #1) by André Aciman Sky in the Deep (Sky in the Deep, #1) by Adrienne Young (with scheduled buddy reads)

The Selection Stories The Prince & The Guard (The Selection, #0.5, #2.5) by Kiera Cass Spin the Dawn (The Blood of Stars, #1) by Elizabeth Lim

I'll be adjusting some as the month goes along! will be adding these to the spreadsheet. :D

message 18: by iana (new)

iana (ianaigot) | 311 comments @Meaghan, I might be able to read The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue (Montague Siblings, #1) by Mackenzi Lee with you if you can do the end of the month?

message 19: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments @Guiana that would work with me!!

I might also be able to Spin the dawn with you! I need to read that too

Reading Rediscovered (readingrediscovered) | 876 comments checking in! I plan to read Bobbsey Twins in the Country (1907) and Nancy Drew and the Moss-Covered Mansion (1930)

iana (ianaigot) | 311 comments @Meaghan, great! I'm free anytime for Gentleman's Guide after the 18th so whenever works best for you there. :D

I've actually got a buddy read scheduled for Spin the Dawn, but it's outside of the group with someone through private message so it won't count for buddy read points. we're planning to do it on the 14th but it's really flexible. if you're free around then, I'm super up for BRing it here with you too! let me know if you're going through with it and I can acommodate the start date. :D

I have no plans yet so the 14th works for me!!

and maybe the 20th for gentlemen's guide then? did you want to read lady's guide too or no?

message 23: by iana (new)

iana (ianaigot) | 311 comments 20th is perfect! I wasn't planning on getting to Lady's Guide next month, but since my schedule is still looking pretty free, why not? I'm down to go ahead with it. :D how long of a window should we leave in between Gentleman's Guide and this?

message 24: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments I'm not sure! I could read it quite quickly especially if I listen to an audiobook, but I'm not sure how long you think you'll need? we could do the 25th or something

message 25: by Mara (new)

Mara (mara97) | 468 comments I fixed some mistakes in the spreadsheet when it comes to calculations (I noticed that the 2005 books didn't show up in the planned overview).
(For example, originally =COUNTIFS(Books!$D:$D,"=1995",Books!$D:$D,"=1996") was used, but that means that the year has to be equal to 1995 and 1996, which is impossible. I changed it to =COUNTIFS(Books!$D:$D,">=1995",Books!$D:$D,"<=1996"), which means that the year has to be 1995 or more, and the year has to be 1996 or less (so 1995 and 1996))

message 26: by callie (new)

callie (artsy_bibliophile) | 907 comments For the spreadsheet, how does it work? Does each member go into it and edit every time the plan, start, or finish a book?

thanks for that! I plugged in a book under 2011 the night before, but I checked through it again and it disappeared. do you know if there was something in the algorithm for this or just that it was accidentally erased?

iana (ianaigot) | 311 comments Callie wrote: "For the spreadsheet, how does it work? Does each member go into it and edit every time the plan, start, or finish a book?"

so far, I think we've just planned our individual books. we can do whatever everyone thinks is easy, so thoughts, team? Meaghan provided the spreadsheet, maybe you'd have some suggestions with it?

I remember that a couple of the numbers were filled in by hand in the overview thing, which isn't necessary (I removed them because by putting something in by hand, the formula disappears and everything has to be updated by hand). The Excel formula will count all the years that are put in the 'Years Published' column in the second sheet (Books). So if you add the books in that sheet, the overview will automatically count the years. So if you put your 2011 book in that list, you will see the count go up by one in the Overview sheet. I hope that it makes sense!

Yep! You can also just put books you're currently reading if you'd rather not put every planned book there. Also, make sure you fill in your name in one of the colored squares for it to fully work!

Meaghan (ectophine) | 3596 comments @guiana for the planned reads, you dont fill those numbers in yourself! It counts it up when you add books to the sheet. Typing in there yourself removes the formula, but I'll fix it rq

So if I understand correctly: if for example 3 of us are reading a book from 2013, only one can be used?

message 47: by Mara (new)

Mara (mara97) | 468 comments Saar The Book owl wrote: "So if I understand correctly: if for example 3 of us are reading a book from 2013, only one can be used?"

As far as I understand the challenge, we all can use 2013. "These boxes can be completed in any order, and it is fine to complete boxes multiple times before completing other boxes(So you could read 3 books from 2001, even if you have not completed any other boxes)."

You get bonus points if you complete a row (a bit like bingo). So if there are three books in 2013, there are three points for that square. If the other squares in the same row also have three points, we will get 3x 25 bonus points. If not, they are somewhat 'waste' reads. But it still isn't a bad thing. Additionally, you can use any publication date of any edition, so if there is a book that is released in 2013, but there is also a 2014 edition, you can use that one. Hope that it makes sense!
