Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2178 comments Muse A is a somewhat morally grey but more often times self centered bandit. He takes what he pleases- which sometimes means everything a person has- without any regard what so ever to the impact his actions will have on those who he is taking from. He has lived this way for quite a while without any real problems occurring . . . that is until he takes the last and only coin of the wrong person- an elderly sorceresses with a bad attitude. Upon seeing how selfish and unregarding of others he is, the sorceress curses him so that the person who he cares about most- which at the time of the incident is himself- will suffer a long and drawn out death unless he can prove himself worthy of breaking the curse within the Valley of Ganeian. Muse A writes off the curse she has spoken as the simple ramblings of a desperate old woman . . . until he starts getting sick.
Desperate to find a way to save himself he starts traveling- looking for any clues of where to find the Valley of Ganeian, but quickly discovers that most do not even know of the name aside from a few who have heard vague tales of it being some sort of magical land.
Muse B is a young woman just trying to survive on her own. She has been struggling to make a life for herself for the past few years, finding that no matter how hard she works she can never seem to get ahead in life- however she has not lost hope. When muse A arrives in town word quickly gets around that he is searching for someone to give him directions to the valley of Ganeian. Muse B is one of the very few who know of it's location. Recognizing it as an opportunity, Muse B seeks out Muse A, informing him that she knows of it's location and that it is not just some fairytale. She agrees to help him, but her help has a price- one that Muse A agrees to but has little intention of keeping at first. To Muse A's further dismay Muse B refuses to just give him straight up directions to the location and insists that she must instead guide him there. As it is his only lead and with time constantly ticking down over his head, the usually solo traveler agrees and together they set off to find the valley- but will the trip go as smoothly and as easily as planned?

Alright, here we are. I posted the plot above just for future reference.

Sarbi | 142 comments Great, thanks. So did you want to discuss anything further or just get to it?

message 3: by Lynn (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2178 comments I don't believe there is anything else I can think of at the moment that I would want to discuss, so I guess let's just get to it unless there is anything you would like to bring up.

message 4: by Sarbi (new)

Sarbi | 142 comments Not at the moment, we can discuss as things go along. :) Want to just jump in or make sheets?

message 5: by Lynn (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2178 comments Alright. :)
Usually I do sheets- just the basics though like Name, Age, and Appearance. I'm alright with whatever though.

message 6: by Sarbi (new)

Sarbi | 142 comments Cool! Yeah I do simple ones too, let me make mine. Mind starting afterwards?

Sarbi | 142 comments Thanks I suck at it lol. Also what age range was it going to be?

message 9: by Lynn (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2178 comments I'm thinking it would work best with both being in the realm of 19-24

message 10: by Sarbi (new)

Sarbi | 142 comments Yeah I was thinking that too.

message 14: by Lynn (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2178 comments Cassia stood in the town square, watching as others strolled around to various vendors and market places within the area. The smell of fresh baked bread and wood smoke lingered heavily in the mid morning air. She began scanning over the faces of those who stood near a fruit stand, looking for a strange face that she didn't recognize amongst them. If you wanted to find someone this was usually the best place to be. It was the section of the town with the most action, and the best place to overhear gossip or news otherwise.
Just a couple hours ago she had been selling rabbits she had caught to the cooks at the tavern. That's where she had heard the news about a traveller inquiring about the wearabouts of the Valley of Ganeian. The staff had been laughing and jesting about it, how the poor fool was chasing after a mere story. But a mere story it was not. Cassia knew that Ganeian was indeed real, as real as the town square she stood in now. She didn't know yet exactly what her intentions were but needed to see this traveller for herself before they moved on.

message 15: by Sarbi (new)

Sarbi | 142 comments You must be joking! That place ain't nothing but a myth. Poor fools going to die before finding it! These responses echoed in his head. With every place he asked cheeky responses and laughter had ensued. He was furious, stalking out of each place with a growl and curses. Bunch of miserable people and they dared laugh at him?! As much as he wanted to start a fight just to quench his bloodlust he refrained from doing so. This was the only town for miles and time wasn't on his side. It wouldn't do to get kicked out or on bad terms with the locals. Especially not in his current state. "Does no one know where the Valley of Ganeian is?!" He shouted in frustration, not caring who heard or saw his rampage. Passing at a tavern he hadn't stomped into yet he went inside and asked the same. Surely someone must know of at least someone else that knew where it were. If that wenches' curse was real then so had to be the Valley.

message 16: by Lynn (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2178 comments Cassia slowly ventured in further to the heart of the town, being careful to keep scanning faces as she went along. She also made sure to listen- in a small town like this gossip spread like wildfire and could reach one end of town from the other in very little time. There was a very good chance she could at least get a general idea of where to look from such.
Upon hearing a snipet of something that sounded promising she stopped and pretended to look over some of the goods at the stand the conversation was nearest to, listening further. "Yeah, came in asking for directions to that rediculous mythical valley and then continued heading east up town." The woman she was eavesdropping on paused a minute to laugh. "The fool probably read some theory about it being real in some book somewhere. I do hope he doesn't stick around long, the last thing we need in this town is another Samuel Whelan." Cassia was used to hearing such remarks about her late father, but that didn't make it sting any less. She was contemplating 'accidentally' running in to the woman and making her drop the large basket of apples she had when she along with the rest of the people gathered in the area heard a slightly distant yet all too close yell, making everyone freeze and question the source. It was the traveller, it had to be. Cassia was the first one to break the spell that the yell had induced, moving away from the stand she had been at and quickly making her way in the directiction that she had overheard the traveller had moved in. After that everyone else seemed to follow suit, going about what they were doing before the air had been pierced with the noise.
It wasn't difficult to find that she was on the right trail, it was easy to tell by the body language and conversations of those she passed. As she grew closer the conversations became more hushed with townspeople doing little more than cast looks over their shoulder in the direction of which she assumed the traveller was. Eventually she found herself standing before the only other tavern in town- The Lone Nightengail, its sign a crude silhouette of the bird it was named after. It was much rougher than the one she had sold rabbits to this morning and had an overall worse reputation. She hesitated outside the doors, debating on if she should go in or not.

Sarbi | 142 comments If he thought he'd get an answer any different from the previous, he was sorely mistaken. And not a little bitter because of it. Downing the last of a pint of ale he'd ordered he moved to leave. A couple of snickers stopped him and he looked at the trio balefully. "A problem?" He sneered now facing them.

"No problem mate. Just wondering if you're just an idiot or insane." One of the men said. Dimitri was already close to snapping as it was and that seemed to be the last straw. Didn't matter if he'd heard worse, it was just an outlet. "Say that to my face!" He threw the glass across to them and missed as they just ducked in time. It hit a frame on the wall and a general outrage ensued. Mostly since inhibitions were already low in places this. Suddenly a couple of thugs grabbed him by the arms. "Out you go! Find another place to rave about!" Dimitri fought and howled in rage, he would have gotten more than few punches in if that horrendous, increasingly gut clenching cough hadn't taken over him. It was something that was happening more and more often since the curse and he found himself stumbling out of the tavern in a disheveled state. Once the cough subsided he straightened, determined to go in and finish what he'd started. He was distracted by a pair of eyes close to him than he'd expected. His first instinct was to apologize for almost bumping into her but this unintentional weakness angered him. So he instead snapped. "What are you looking at little lady?" Huffing he arranged his clothes with a furrowed brow. "See something you like?" He sneered hoping he'd scares her enough so she'd go scurrying off after gawking at him.

message 18: by Lynn (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2178 comments Cassia didn't know what exactly she had been expecting to find, but certainly not him. She took a step back from the doors as he was thrown out of the establishment. She didn't notice she was staring at the stranger until he called her out on it. It threw her off for a second but she quickly recovered and found her words. ". . . Not particularly" she answered simply as she scanned him up and down from the top of his dark haired head down to the soles of his shoes and back again. She took a few steps around him to view him from different angles, trying to size him up and decide if this was as terrible of an idea as she was starting to suspect. She came to a stop in front of him, aware of a few eyes now watching the exchange from a distance. "But walk with me anyway." She stepped around him and started walking further up the street, away from the gaze that the disturbance had brought upon them, and indicated for him to follow.

message 19: by Sarbi (new)

Sarbi | 142 comments Few people stunned him enough to make him speechless. Too many thoughts ran in his head to be able to settle on one to respond. He could easily identify the disbelief coursing through him. What did she mean? He was good eye candy if he said so himself. Scoffing, for lack of words, he crossed his arms as she proceeded to look him up and down, circling him. He followed her with his eyes until she stood in front of him. Dimitri grumbled but did follow her. He was too suprised and honestly curious at this point. Catching up with her he eyed her curiously. "Who are you again?" He patted at his bag making sure it was still tied to his belt. "And why am I walking with you? Unless you were lying about not being 'particularly' interested in what you see." Dimitri raised a brow before scolding himself. He wasn't here for that, he really needed to find a way to that Valley.

message 20: by Lynn (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2178 comments She couldn't help but roll her eyes at his last statement. "Don't flatter yourself, I'm here on business, and you are most definately not my type." She informed him, keeping a mental tally of the number of steps they took away from the pairs of prying eyes that had been watching from a distance. She debated for a moment on if she should give him her name and ultimately decided it would be of no harm. "I'm Cassia . . . It's better to keep moving than to stop and draw a crowd, here you never know who could be listening and watching while hidden in a sea of faces." she offered in explanation to the purpose of him following. Once she felt she reached an appropriate number of steps she felt comfortable enough to get to the point. "You are the one who is seeking the valley, are you not?"

message 21: by Sarbi (new)

Sarbi | 142 comments Huffing once again he retorted. "I doubt that, don't delude yourself either." He just couldn't help himself from saying. Business? Narrowing his eyes he noticed the multitude of people we left behind until there wasn't a single soul passing by. He simply nodded hoping this was a break he was getting, a lead perhaps. They stopped abruptly and he looked around them at her, his eyes wide. "Yes! Yes I am." He said quickly his pulse quickening in hope. "Do you know where it is?" He pressed on unaware of his moving forward. "I need to get there as soon as possible. Tell me it's real."

message 22: by Lynn (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2178 comments She chose to ignore his first comment, knowing that that wasn't the important thing here. Besides something told her that if she were to retort further it would only feed his ego. "Rest assured that it is indeed real and not just a figment of the imagination or a mere legend." Cassia confirmed, watching him. Clearly for whatever reason he seeked it, it was important. She wondered what his intentions were behind finding the valley but didn't ask. Not yet anyway. If this went how she hoped there would be plenty of time for that later. "I know how to find it." She further offered. "And I can get you there . . . but in return you must help me."

message 23: by Sarbi (new)

Sarbi | 142 comments His eyes closed for a second and he gave a silent deep breath. The relief washing through him was huge he didn't even bother to be a bit skeptic. If he had a fighting chance he'd take it, no questions asked. "What a relief..." Dimitri didn't really know much about the place only that'd he'd find what he wanted there. When the catch came he wasn't suprised, nothing was free in this world. "Help you with what?" He asked reluctantly his eyes searching hers. If there was one thing he could count on was the ability to bargain, in benefit to himself at least. But she had proved to be somewhat immune to his distractions. "Look miss Cassia, if you take me there consider anything you want yours." The thing was getting yo that place.

message 24: by Lynn (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2178 comments That reaction was definately not one of a man on a mere treasure hunt as some might seek the valley for . . . that was the reaction of a desperate man, a man that was supposedly willing to give anything. A man that could potentially give her the ticket she had been looking for out of the situation that currently weighed her down. ". . . There is a debt over my head that I have been unable to escape from under despite great effort, you must promise to help me rid myself of it." She answered, watching to see how he would react and looking for any sign that might suggest what he would say was not the truth.

message 25: by Sarbi (new)

Sarbi | 142 comments "What kind of debt are we talking about?" After all ways of settling debts were many, he knew because he himself had outrun many of them. It was also another condition he didn't need but he'd be willing, probably, to help her settle it if possible. "Tell me where to find the Valley of Ganeian and I'll help you square your debt." It begged the question of how a girl had the location of a place even grown men had snickered at. But like he said, questions were a luxury he couldn't afford right now. What he needed was an answer to just one. "You can draw me a map!" He said and picked at his bag to get some paper.

message 26: by Lynn (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2178 comments "Oh, nothing too extravagant." Cassia answered, "just your standard significant sum of money owed to an individual with questionable methods of getting his money one way or the other sort of debt." She explained, glossing over it in a way lighter tone than what it truly warranted. " . . . I will not be drawing you a map." She stated matter of factly, indicating that it was not up for negotiation. "I will accompany you there. That is the only option I am offering you. For one the trip is a little complicated, even if I were to explain the markers to you it is unlikely you would be able to find or recognize them on your own. They are very subtle, how do you think the valley has kept its secret so long? Secondly I want to be there to ensure you do indeed return to help me." This wasn't exactly her first rodeo, she had quickly learned not to straight up blindly trust the word of a stranger. "I am not going to allow you the chance to skip out on your end of the bargain."

message 28: by Sarbi (new)

Sarbi | 142 comments "Questionable methods huh? I know of those. I wonder what kind of trouble you got into to get in deals with one of those individuals." Dimitri said it pleasantly but with underlying sarcasm. He wasn't so sure it was a sum to be so blase about, to be brushed off. Getting tangled in that sort of thing was precisely what had gotten him into this mess in the first place. Sighing loudly and deeply he stood with legs apart and a hand across his face. "You will not?" He repeated in a flat voice. With each word his disbelief grew and it irked at him because he was in no position to argue. But argue he would. "Have you even been there before? I'd hate for the dangers to be too great. It's safer if just I go and you give me directions. Very specific ones." He said in a patronizing voice. "You have my word I'll come back." The lie rolled easily of his tongue and he almost gave himself a pat on the back for it. The urge to roll his eyes at her last words almost one out. "Well you could always trust me." He tried with a dashing smile. "Does this...Valley have any wealth at all?" He finally asked.

message 29: by Lynn (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2178 comments Though he most likely didn't mean it to, his first comment struck a nerve and she stiffened. "It is not directly a debt of mine, but of my father's which was transferred on to me upon his death." She stated seriously. "Even if it was of my own making, the details would not be of your concern."
She took in a long breath and let it out in one silent exhale. "In the same manner my safety is also not of your concern. I have indeed been to the valley and I know well the dangers that could await. Contrary to what you may believe, I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself. That being said, I learned a long time ago not to trust the word of charming pretty boys like you." She continued, his smile not so much as softening her or making her waver as he most likely intended. Instead it did quite the opposite, making any room that there may have been left open for negotiation to vanish. She took a step closer to show that she was not backing down, her voice dangerously low as she continued. "Lets get one thing perfectly clear, either I go with you or you can find someone else to show you the way. If that is the route you choose I wish you luck, those of us who know of the valley's location are far and few between."

message 30: by Sarbi (new)

Sarbi | 142 comments Dimitri opened his mouth to speak but closed it soon enough. He had a feeling any remark on his part about that wouldn't be met kindly. "You're right it's not my concern. I'm sure you have your reason as I do mine." And they weren't ones he was willing to share, at least not yet.

He was beginning to wonder if she was divine intervention or hell sent. Unable to pick which at that very moment he simply sputtered at her words. In theory great, he didn't want the added burden of looking out for her in his weakened state but it also hurt his ego that she didn't want his protection. A bit of a walking contradiction he was. However he did manage to smirk as he unconsciously preened. "Charming huh? I knew you'd admit it sooner rather than later." Nodding with a hint of a smile he added. "Try not to fall too hard for me love, I have a quest and our paths will eventually part." Any trace of a smile vanished completely as she spoke to him in a low voice. He grit his teeth from lashing out at her and telling her he didn't need her. That's just it he did need her. She was a lifeline at this point and he hated that fact. Never before had such vulnerability come before him. With a stiff nod he unclenched his jaw. "Fine, have it your way. When can we set off?"

message 31: by Lynn (new)

Lynn (papergalaxies) | 2178 comments Cassia hadn't meant the word as a compliment but she knew better than to attempt to explain such and feed into his ego more. She was starting to wonder what she had just signed herself up for. It was going to be a long trip having to deal with someone such as him and she briefly contemplated demanding a higher price just for the inconvenience of it. She didn't though, excessive greed never got a person anywhere, the only thing she truly needed was for that debt to be gone.
Besides, something told her that getting him to hold up his end of the bargain was going to be about as easy as pulling teeth as it currently stood anyway. ". . . I'll need a couple hours to gather and straighten out some things. I will meet you back here after that and we will get moving. The sooner we get going, the sooner we will get back, and all the closer we will be to our paths dividing once again." She stated, throwing a variation of his own words back at him. She didn't even know this man's name yet and she was already looking forward to the moment all would be settled and they would never need to cross paths again.
