I'll definitely be in for this one! It'll be fun ticking them off. Thanks for setting it up, Cassie. :)

message 3: by Kassandra (new)

Kassandra | -1 comments I'm in! I've added this to my personal challenge thread as well. I'm striving for 25 of the 50 but may expand that if it goes well.

message 4: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Coyle | 1557 comments I think I'll be in on this one, too!

message 5: by Tats (new)

Tats | 9 comments Great Cassie! I am in as well and to start off will really focus on reading stuff I have been avoiding or just not got around to or never thought of... So here my first 8:

- A book published this year
- A book of short stories
- A non-fiction book
- A Pulitzer Prize winning book
- A memoir
- A book that came out the year you were born
- A book written by an author with your same initials
- A banned book

Plus I add 'a short story / book of short stories'

Can't wait to get started :)))

message 6: by Tracey (new)

Tracey | 916 comments Great challenge! I think mine will be a "see how many I can get done in 2015" one because some of these are tough.

A book that takes place in your hometown might have to be "a book that takes place in your home nearby big city or state" for me though.... My hometown is rather small.

I've got this set up in my Personal Goal thread as well. I've got it divided by tens, which is how I'm going to try to update here.

Becca Tyler (scrappybec) | 296 comments I've thought about doing this challenge, but a lot of the books on my other challenges fit the categories on this list. Are we "double counting" for this list?

message 15: by Renee, Mistress of the Mini-Challenge (new)

Renee M | 4789 comments Mod
I was planning to do just that, Becca.
There are a few titles which I'll use for this, for Classic Bingo, and for Alphabet Soup. I've got them laid out in my Personal Challenge thread.

Becca Tyler (scrappybec) | 296 comments Good answer, Renee! :-) I'll add this challenge.

Other people may choose to just do this one. Or not do it at all. It depends on you tolerance for tracking. :)

And, you're right, There are many categories in this one that will be part of other mini-challenges. Since we're encouraging others to start and share mini-challenges, there's bound to be some crossover.

Hey. I have a crazy thought. Let's reeeeeally stretch ourselves and also include....

[] A book by a male author

Happy, that's very adventurous of you! ;)

Personally, I'm crossing over absolutely everything i can in 2015, want to complete as many challenges as possible!

I think it's a matter of personal preference, if you want to link everything and crossover, that's up to you :) as has been said many times before, we're rather laid back here ;)

message 21: by Pepperpots (new)

Pepperpots I'm going to do this but there are one or two categories that I don't think I'll do. Still, I will aim for 45/50 :)

Heather | 97 comments I do have one question though, if I read for example a Memoir by a female author... Does that count towards both categories? Hmmmm!

message 28: by Tats (new)

Tats | 9 comments Heather, it's your challenge! You make the rules :)
Don't forget it's about the enjoyment. Is it more important for you to have a long list of books at the end of the year? Or is it about discovering new and different categories? Another solution: just tick off both, memoirs and female author, and change in case you read another book that counts into either those categories ;)

Hmmm. Personally, I don't love the idea of using the same book for multiple categories. It feels like we're cheating ourselves of the chance to explore other books, right at the beginning. Hopefully, Cassie will have some advice.

Cassie Helwig | 18 comments Some of you asked if we can count a book as 2 categories. I was wondering the same thing, so here's what I think- for now, we put it under 2 categories and if another one comes along, we take it off of the one the second book matches. I'm currently reading Here is Where by Andrew Carroll, and it can fit into 4 of these categories. So I'm going to write it down for all 4, but when it comes time to count up my "25/50," I will only count it once, for whichever category I didn't find another book for. I hope that makes sense.

Tats | 9 comments Hey Cassie, I was surprised with your 49 books comment and checked with the original list. It turns out there are 50 books. Here's the difference:

[] A book from an author YOU LOVE that you haven't read yet
[] A book by an author you've never read before

The 'YOU LOVE' was omitted in the copy/paste list. So that makes 50 again.

Tracey | 916 comments I'm not sure how to interpret: [] A book at the bottom of your to read list. Is this, a book at the end of my "to read list" here? Or a book that I'm not as eager to read as others? How are others interpreting?

I went with: A book that's on my tbr but which I'd likely put off in favor of others on the list.

message 42: by megan (new)

megan | 1163 comments Trilogy = 3 books
So is that makes it 52 books?

message 43: by Renee, Mistress of the Mini-Challenge (new)

Renee M | 4789 comments Mod
Yeah. I noticed that, too. I decided to do one book in a trilogy, since I still need to read Allegiant.

Holly (hollycoulson) | 1949 comments Mod
Yeah, I'd say interpret it how you want to. Personally, I'd do the same as Renee, but it's an opportunity to read a trilogy you've been meaning to read for a long time, so it's up to you.

P.S. Renee, let me know what you think of Allegiant!!
