Great challenge! I think mine will be a "see how many I can get done in 2015" one because some of these are tough.

A book that takes place in your hometown might have to be "a book that takes place in your home nearby big city or state" for me though.... My hometown is rather small.

Planning to do this, have a list set up in my 2015 thread.

I've got this set up in my Personal Goal thread as well. I've got it divided by tens, which is how I'm going to try to update here.

I've thought about doing this challenge, but a lot of the books on my other challenges fit the categories on this list. Are we "double counting" for this list?

There are a few titles which I'll use for this, for Classic Bingo, and for Alphabet Soup. I've got them laid out in my Personal Challenge thread.

Other people may choose to just do this one. Or not do it at all. It depends on you tolerance for tracking. :)

And, you're right, There are many categories in this one that will be part of other mini-challenges. Since we're encouraging others to start and share mini-challenges, there's bound to be some crossover.

Don't forget it's about the enjoyment. Is it more important for you to have a long list of books at the end of the year? Or is it about discovering new and different categories? Another solution: just tick off both, memoirs and female author, and change in case you read another book that counts into either those categories ;)

Hmmm. Personally, I don't love the idea of using the same book for multiple categories. It feels like we're cheating ourselves of the chance to explore other books, right at the beginning. Hopefully, Cassie will have some advice.

Some of you asked if we can count a book as 2 categories. I was wondering the same thing, so here's what I think- for now, we put it under 2 categories and if another one comes along, we take it off of the one the second book matches. I'm currently reading Here is Where by Andrew Carroll, and it can fit into 4 of these categories. So I'm going to write it down for all 4, but when it comes time to count up my "25/50," I will only count it once, for whichever category I didn't find another book for. I hope that makes sense.

Hey Cassie, I was surprised with your 49 books comment and checked with the original list. It turns out there are 50 books. Here's the difference:

I'm not sure how to interpret: [] A book at the bottom of your to read list. Is this, a book at the end of my "to read list" here? Or a book that I'm not as eager to read as others? How are others interpreting?

I went with: A book that's on my tbr but which I'd likely put off in favor of others on the list.

Trilogy = 3 books
So is that makes it 52 books?

Yeah. I noticed that, too. I decided to do one book in a trilogy, since I still need to read Allegiant.

Yeah, I'd say interpret it how you want to. Personally, I'd do the same as Renee, but it's an opportunity to read a trilogy you've been meaning to read for a long time, so it's up to you.
