Hi Keri, and welcome to the "English Mysteries Club". I'm so glad you introduced yourself, and hope you enjoy it here! There certainly are lots of authors discussed here, so we hope to introduce you to a few "new to you" ones :)

I belong to a few groups, some more active than others; after recently reading two stinkers in a row, (GA authors I just can’t get into), I wanted to read a surefire mystery, and saw this group was reading one of my favorite authors, ECR Lorac. I look forward to getting more great input on authors and mystery series to try from the group.
Hi Susan, and welcome to the "English Mysteries club". I hope you like it here :) How great that you like E.C.R. Lorac! This is a new author to quite a few of us, so please do comment in the thread, and I hope we can introduce you to some new reads too :)
(Sorry for the deleted posts, all. My computer took it into its head to post my comment 4 times ...)

Hi Gretchen, and welcome to the "English Mysteries club". I'm so pleased you found us, and be sure to join in on the Continuing Sherlock Holmes Buddy reads, led by our member Ade LINK HERE.
Happy mystery reading!
Happy mystery reading!
Hi everyone! I was a member of this group at one point and I left. Actually, I was inactive on GR generally for a while, but have recently come back. I was very excited to see this group relaunched.
I'm Elizabeth from SW Pennsylvania in the USA. I have loved mysteries since I was in grade school and a librarian recommended the Nancy Drew series. So, yes, I'm another one that started with her books! After that I moved to Agatha Christie, who I just love, especially her Poirot novels. I have also read a couple of John Dickson Carr's books. I am looking forward to expanding my reading to other authors. I love historical, locked room, and the country house style mysteries. I have been looking at the books in the review thread and have already added several to my TBR list. Very happy to be back in this group and looking forward to some great reading!

Hi Elizabeth, and welcome (back) to the "English Mysteries club". And hi and welcome to Lisa Marie too! I hope you find lots of ideas here, and enjoy being active members of our group :)

I still have my Nancy Drew's from the early 1960's. I can't bear to give them away.

Unfortunately, I don't have my Nancy Drew's anymore. But I remember enjoying them very much!

Hi Andy, and welcome to the "English Mysteries club". It sounds as though you have a great broad range of reading, so I hope you enjoy our group. Just join in wherever you like, and have fun :)

Hi, Andy, and you like the books I like! I also belong to an e-mail group that discusses HMs: [email protected] . You're welcome to join us!

Welcome Elizabeth! I loved Nancy Drew and still have my collection!!!! Happy to be a part of this group!!!

Hi both!
Me too! I used to read tons of Anne Perry but have not read them in awhile and really must get back!!!

My mother was a border line hoarder. I think it was from growing up in the Depression. I found boxes of papers like an essay I wrote in the 4th grade entitled "If I was a chair for a day". Why would you save that?

This is how old I am. I am now reading a new Anne Perry's series based on the oldest Pitt son now an attorney. Doesn't that make me feel ancient?

My mother & father both saved a lot of things. I think that's why I tend to be the opposite way.

I'm old too - LOL! I need to find our which Anne Perry I last read because one day I was like - I need to go back and read those books and I saw The Pitts's son was all grown up and a lawyer too! Yikes! But I am happy I have a lot now to read!!!

I wish I could throw things away - it is so hard for me! My grandmother saved everything and I am the same way!!!

Ha! I’m reading that series too! I was always a big Perry fan, read the Pitt and Monk series for years, so when I had surgery a few years ago, my dearest friend sent me the first Daniel Pitt mystery, autographed by Perry! My friend lives in Orlando, works at Disney and somehow got me an autographed book - can’t see Anne Perry doing a book tie-in at Disney - repressed upper class Victorians at the “happiest place on earth” seems an odd fit! Anyway, I am very much enjoying the Daniel Pitt series - I feel ancient as well.
Welcome, all new members, I just joined last month to get in on an ECR Lorac read - lovely group. Happy Reading!

OOh nice! I am sure that helped in your recovery! Funny partnership - but hey - you got a signed book - very cool!

I'm glad you're enjoying the group Susan and Travelisfers :
Do we have any more new members who would like to introduce themselves?

I like the Daniel Pitt series too. It was a clever idea to breathe life into a tired series.

Yes, I’m so glad it has worked for her (and readers!), spin-Offs aren’t always successful.

Do we have any more new members who would like to introduce themselves?"
Sorry, Jean, I’m nattering on...

LOL Susan - no worries! Recommendations are a great part of this group, I think, and for that you do have to natter a bit ;)

Thanks Jean! And welcome, Cynda- I’ve spent many happy hours watching Masterpiece Mystery on PBS, also.

I'm Kirsten from Auckland, New Zealand. I have an extensive collection of the original Penguin edition Agatha Christie books, and have just started collecting the original Ngaio Marsh Penguin edition books! I started out my reading life with Enid Blyton, and haven't stopped reading since... I'm also an author, with six published novels. But there's always time for reading, in between parenting and pandemic lockdowns...

And I forgot to say that my favourite podcast series is "Shedunnit" - all about the golden age of crime writing. I recommend it.
Hi Kirsten, and welcome to the "English Mysteries Club". I'm English, but went to New Zealand once, and fell in love with the country. Our visit (a tour) ended with us staying with an old school friend who now lives there. I heard from him this morning actually, and he tells me you are under certain measures again.
Yes, quite a few readers have used the lockdown to hunker down and read even more :) I hope you enjoy the group. Just join in wherever you like!
