Are you a moderator of another group? Or a member of a group you really enjoy, and would like to share about?

Here is the thread where you can tell us all about it, and provide a link if you like.

Sandy | 83 comments I belong to two groups that could be of interest.

Reading the Detectives also concentrates on Golden Age mysteries with a yearly challenge (P D James for 2020), a monthly read, and buddy reads. It is very active and well-run by Judy and Susan.

Historical Mystery Lovers includes books that are set more than 50 years ago even though it was current for the author (i.e. Christie counts). Lauren runs a great yearly challenge. This year's based on Wheel of Fortune TV program. There is also a monthly author.

Thanks Sandy!

John I'm one of the moderators of the Goodreads group called Audiobooks, where crime and mystery are one of the very popular areas of discussion among members. One of the features that sets us apart from other groups is that we have members with a lot of expertise to share on hardware and software issues.

(Please let me know if the link works for you!)

Jan Mc (mcfitzsatx) And I am a member of both the Historical Mystery Lovers group and the Audiobook group, and agree that both are very well managed. I've added many, many books to my library using the suggestions and reviews from members.

I also recommend the SciFi and Fantasy Book Club for those genres, which hosts some excellent group reads as well as very active forums.

One more group I really like is the You'll love this one...!! A book club & more which is for all genres and hosts many challenges and group reads as well as good general chats.

Yes John, your link works just fine :)

message 7: by Werner (new)

Werner | 257 comments Some posts and threads in this group involve trying to identify books read in the past, where author and title information has been forgotten. (There are quite a few books I read in the past which I can't identify, so I can testify to the frustration it causes!) I'm sure members of this group can use their knowledge of the genre to help in many cases; but another useful resource might be this group: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/... . I've belonged to it for years, and the members there have helped me run down a good many forgotten books!

Werner | 257 comments No problem, Jean! :-)

message 10: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Just saw this post. I am also on the group "Baker Street Irregulars", devoted to all things Sherlock Holmes, Conan Doyle's canon, movies, TV and "new" fiction. It goes from spikes of activity to spells of inactivity but some of the topics are interesting (best new fiction, Holmes vs Jack the Ripper) etc and I know a few authors are on there.

Thomas (tom471) | 990 comments I joined StoryGraph and enter their book giveaways. Today I rec'd a notification that I did not win:
Unfortunately, the prize draw for thekatetristan's giveaway of Break Her Silence has come to an end and you haven't been selected as a winner this time around. But then there was this:
I think you’ll love my books – and you can find out for free by joining my newsletter. Go to https://BookHip.com/MHHLAPP for a free ebook copy of Track Her Down, the 150-page prequel to Break Her Silence. If you enjoy it, let me know - I love to hear from readers!
I did get the free book.
StoryGraph is a competing website to GR. The above author is US based. The offer may not work outside the US.

Thomas (tom471) | 990 comments I am a moderator for GR Ireland. It is a quiet group. No monthly group reads. I only became a mod to prevent it from being dissolved. I don't read a lot of Irish books. Everyone is welcome to join.

message 15: by Dorothy (new)

Dorothy (vilette) | 308 comments I have a penchant for Irish books. I've jut finished 'The Bee Sting'....set in a small Irish town. Very good. About to start 'A History of the Rain' by Niall Williams. Can I join your group?
