Feed Your Readers, the NetGalley Challenge

Duration: Monthly

How to Participate:

The NetGalley Challenge is designed to not only get you to read your NetGalley books, but to also advertise your reviews for others to see because after all, that's what NetGalley is all about.

Though you may pop in/out at any time, the NetGalley Challenge will run on a monthly basis so you are able to see progress being made.

1. At the beginning of the month, post any/all of the following:
a: How many books on your NetGalley shelf
b: What books are on your NG shelf
c: What your Netgalley feedback ratio is

2. During the month, read the NetGalley books that you can AND update your post with your reviews. (You can do this after each book or wait until the end of the month.)

3. At the end of the month, update your post and with:
a: What books you read
b: Link(s) to your review(s)**
c: Your updated shelf count
d: Your updated books to read
e: Your updated ratio

Then start a new post for the next month!

**When linking your reviews, please link only to the book(s) here at GoodReads. At this time, linking to a personal blog is not allowed. Thank you!

Alison (a1ison74) | 2826 comments Have been doing quite well on the reading front over the last couple of months but have to confess I'm a bit behind on reviewing so my goal for March is to catch up. Four reviews written so far and two submitted to NetGalley, I'm currently waiting, not very patiently, for amazon to accept my reviews before giving feedback.

Is anyone else finding that Amazon seem to be taking longer and longer? If it's something I've bought it tends to go up same day but if I didn't buy from them it can be 3-4 days. Very frustrating as I also do the Readers First thing which gives you extra points if you post your review to Amazon on publication day.

Darling Rose Gold review

The was my first approval through Berkley so I'm glad I was able to get it done on time.

Kristie | 3595 comments My next planned read was Unfollow Me, which publishes in four days. I just checked my Kindle and it isn't there! Ugh... we switched internet providers and I forgot to update my Kindle. All my other books were still available to download, but this one has been archived. I sent an email to the publisher to see if I can get another copy. My library doesn't have it, I can't preorder on Audible, and the Kindle is a $10 preorder. I hate to spend that much on a Kindle book. Here's hoping the publisher sends me a new copy.

In the meantime, I will finish reading Big Lies in a Small Town, which is already late. I also want to read The Book of Lost Friends as soon as possible. Lisa Wingate will be at my local library the end of the month and I'd love to have it read by then.

Aymee (asphaltcowgrrl) | 62 comments Kristie - have you tried going to Amazon -> Account -> My content and devices. Choose Docs from the list. If you sent the book to your Kindle, it should be in that list on Amazon's website. Just resend to your Kindle.

I've had a lot of issues with them just not showing up on my Kindle even without internet issues. Good luck!

Kristie | 3595 comments It worked! Thank you! I swear it was there, then it wasn't. I had to assume that I was mistaken and it was due to the change in internet service, but who knows. Glad it's there now!

I should have waited to reply. LOL I'm so happy it was there! And let me tell you, sometimes I have SO many issues getting books onto my Kindle. Always from Netgalley though, when I send to Kindle from some of the independent presses, I never have an issue.

Anyway - HOORAY!

message 31: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments I'm so happy it was there! I've only gotten two books from this publisher. The first one I DNF. I just couldn't get into it and after months of trying, I finally sent an email apologizing and saying I just couldn't finish the book. This was their second chance and I lost it. lol 🤦🏼‍♀️ So glad I can now review it, so they don't think I am completely unreliable. Plus, I want to read it anyway. So, there's that. lol

message 32: by Aymee (new)

Aymee (asphaltcowgrrl) | 62 comments Hah, I hear you on that. It's so hard to get in with some of the bigger publishers that I'd have been upset, too. On the other hand, Harlequin will give anything to anyone it seems. I don't think they've ever denied a request to me. Which... can be dangerous. LOL

Happy reading!

Vicki Willis | 496 comments I have just finished my first book of the month.
The Passengers You Cannot See by The Behrg The Passengers You Cannot See
Very creepy, scary short stories if you like that kind of thing. It was very good.

This is the tough month for me here. I have so many publishing this month. I am going to end up behind, but then I can get caught up because the next few months are manageable.

Kristie | 3595 comments I’m hoping with the newly imposed “self-care time” I have available that I’ll be able to get some of my NetGalleys read. I’ve fallen behind again. I have started 3 of them though and they’re all good so far.

It was missing something for me. It just wasn't that interesting, but it wasn't horrible. I gave it 3 stars.

I see that you are reading it now Kristie. I want to see what you think of it.

Vicki Willis | 496 comments I finished a 3rd one and it was again just ok. I am wondering if it is me or the books...

The Girl You Gave Away by Jess Ryder The Girl You Gave Away

Vicki Willis | 496 comments It was a tough month for me.
I read 3 and added 2, which is good because my ratio went up. The bad part was the books past publication crept up to 10! I had too many books publishing during Feb and March. I only have one publishing in April so I am hoping to start knocking the past pubs down.

message 44: by Kristie (last edited Mar 31, 2020 07:00PM) (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments I struggled in March too. I thought this was going to be a great month for me, then I got stuck at home. I thought being home would be helpful, but I didn't read anything for 2 weeks! I'm just starting now to pick up my books again, but a few of them already published and now I'm behind again.

I ended up reading and reviewing only one book in March, but I've already started three others so hopefully April will be better.

Fortunately, I did not add any through NetGalley. However, I've picked up a few books through Bookish, so now I have some physical books to review as well. I'll add those to my list in April.
