Sujash Ghosh (sujash9) | 1 comments This was my first novel of Anthony Doerr. I read it during the summer of 2019. It's a heart wrenching yet uplifting tale of a blind girl trapped in the town of Saint-Malo and of a young boy recruited in the Hitler's Youth army as a radio operator. The story is fast paced filled with moments of hope and despair set against the ominous backdrop of WW2.
If you want a warm story to accompany you then I would like to suggest this one.

Buck (spectru) I agree. This is a very good book. It won the Pulitzer in 2015.

Sophie | 216 comments All the Light We Cannot See is an insanely good book! Wonderful recommendation. I'm getting emotional just thinking about it. My review is here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I've heard The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is similar (it's set in WW2 but I believe there were other reasons). Have any of you read that? I want to get to it soon.

Lisa (lisadannatt) | 743 comments I’m not sure I would call The Book Thief similar, but it’s a gorgeous book.

Buck (spectru) Other than time frame, I don't see much similarity between the two books. The Book Thief is definitely a book to read before you die. It's on our 100 list. I think we must have made the 100 list before All the Light We Cannot See was published, or surely it would have been on it, too.
