In March we will be reading The Way of All Flesh by Samuel Butler for our Family & Self category - who's in?

Leslie | 904 comments I just read this in December so I won't be rereading but I will be happy to join in the discussion.

message 3: by Fay (new) - added it

Fay Roberts | 363 comments I’m 8 chapters in :-)

Phil (lanark) | 634 comments I’m definitely in - but it might be a combo of kindle and audio book (if the LibriVox reader passes muster).

Bryan--The Bee’s Knees (theindefatigablebertmcguinn) | 566 comments I read this a few years ago--I'm afraid I'm going to pass this time.

Fay Roberts | 363 comments I’ve nearly done and I just wanted to say that this was a revelation to me. I was expecting it to be dull and dragging with long passages of descriptive political views but instead it’s a little gem of satire and irony that trips along nicely. I would definitely put it up against any Dickens and expect it to be as equally enjoyed.

Phil (lanark) | 634 comments Wow. Great advert for this one Fay. My preconceptions of this book match yours. So I’m glad to hear that it isn’t like that.

I was surprised by it too. I think it is the title that gives this misleading preconception.

started this recently and also finding it enjoyably readable...

Eglė | 50 comments I've finished this and certainly not what I expected - some great humour and well developed characters, I found myself actively angry at Theobald and Christina quite a few times!

Would have been a 4 star read but it started dragging towards the end for me at least and was less excited about picking it up than in the first half.
