In March we will be reading The Way of All Flesh by Samuel Butler for our Family & Self category - who's in?

I just read this in December so I won't be rereading but I will be happy to join in the discussion.

I’m definitely in - but it might be a combo of kindle and audio book (if the LibriVox reader passes muster).

I read this a few years ago--I'm afraid I'm going to pass this time.

since it was my nomination, I will be reading it!
although won't be starting til 18th at earliest (don't ask why!)...

I’ve nearly done and I just wanted to say that this was a revelation to me. I was expecting it to be dull and dragging with long passages of descriptive political views but instead it’s a little gem of satire and irony that trips along nicely. I would definitely put it up against any Dickens and expect it to be as equally enjoyed.

Wow. Great advert for this one Fay. My preconceptions of this book match yours. So I’m glad to hear that it isn’t like that.

I was surprised by it too. I think it is the title that gives this misleading preconception.

started this recently and also finding it enjoyably readable...

I've finished this and certainly not what I expected - some great humour and well developed characters, I found myself actively angry at Theobald and Christina quite a few times!

Would have been a 4 star read but it started dragging towards the end for me at least and was less excited about picking it up than in the first half.
