Why are so many new authors putting out books in series that end so that you have to purchase the next one? I have stopped even looking at new books with numbers after them.

as the mom of an author, i've been learning a lot about this whole book series thing. it seems that there are a lot of people who love to binge read stories that are too long for one book!

similar to binge watching tv series rather than watching a movie, i guess. anticipation of what's next, the excitement of expectation, possibly even a break from the story - these kinds of things must be very appealing to a lot of people, because i now know several authors who don't write books without them being part of a series anymore.

seems the times they are a'changin'!
