For our Group Reads in 2020 we will have different choices each month. For April it will be SET IN AN AUSSIE CITY Your mod team have chosen two books each, therefore members will have four to choose from when you vote in the poll. (Once again, all Aussie authors)

Our choices are:

A Time of Secrets by Deborah Burrows A Time of Secrets by Deborah Burrows

1943 is a dangerous time to fall in love...

In wartime Melbourne loose lips sink ships, so when Australian Women's Army sergeant Stella Aldridge overhears soldiers whispering about a revenge killing, she follows her instincts to investigate, despite finding herself drawn to one of the soldiers, the enigmatic Staff Sergeant Eric Lund.

Meet Me at Lennon's by Melanie Myers Meet Me at Lennon's by Melanie Myers

As university student Olivia Wells sets out on her quest to find an unpublished manuscript by Gloria Graham – a now obscure mid-twentieth century feminist and writer – she unwittingly uncovers details about a young woman found murdered. Strangled with a nylon stocking in the mangroves on the banks of the river in wartime Brisbane, the case soon became known as the river girl murder.

Beneath the Willow by Michael J. Murphy Beneath the Willow by Michael J. Murphy

During the European summer of 1916, the horror of war spreads its tentacles to grip a working-class family in Balmain, New South Wales. The war has ended, and Clarence Miller carries wounds that cannot be seen. He returns home to a loving wife and infant son, but his life will never be the same again.

The Long Con by Barry Weston The Long Con by Barry Weston

Frank Cousins is a knockabout bloke; an ex-Queensland cop turned private eye who - it has to be said - is his own worst enemy. Owner and sole employee of the Tasmanian Private Investigation Agency in Hobart, Frank takes on three simple cases and soon finds himself up to his neck in bad guys, bad situations and, as usual, bad behaviour.
