Jarrett Rush | 9 comments Hello, everyone. New to the group and wanted to introduce myself. My name's Jarrett. I'm a reader and a writer. I write soft scifi. Mostly near future. Almost always having some sort of crime element. I've linked my book at the top of this post in case you're interested in taking a look.

I live in Dallas with my wife, our daughter, and our dog. We have another little one on the way. I'll soon be swimming in kids toys and sippee cups. It's OK, though. I love it.

I've been a Goodreads member for years, but just now getting more active in the groups. I'm hoping that I can find some interesting conversation and meet some new writers/readers.

Now, a question for you all. My daughter loves to read, and that's great. But a guy can only read so much about a little tank engine before he needs to cleanse his brain with something else. That's where you come in. I've been rather lazy in my indie scifi reading lately. Can the good people here give me the names of some good indie scifi that you are enjoying? I tend to like stuff like I write. Not too tech heavy. I like near future more than space opera, but I wouldn't rule out the latter. I don't typically go for military stuff, but have made exceptions in the past.

So, with that in mind, what should I be reading?

Thanks in advance.

Jarrett Rush | 9 comments I've heard really good things from a coworker about that book. The concept sounds awesome.

Peggy Holloway | 393 comments Wool. It's a whole series with the first book named Wool. That one blew me away.

Jarrett Rush | 9 comments Thanks, Peggy. I think Wool is one I'm going to have to revisit. I read the first novella and didn't love it. But when so many people say so many good things about something that you didn't love then maybe it was you and not the work. I know I've read or started reading something and it didn't grab me. Then later in life I try to read it again, and it clicks for me.
