Stephanie (Chinchillita) (chinchillita) | 427 comments I have never done a book challenge before that wasn't part of a library summer reading program, so this is very exciting for me. This particular challenge I found on that horribly addicting site, Pintrest. It originated on Popsugar and is their 2015 Reading Challenge. What appealed to me is that the challenge isn't to just read 50 books, it's to find 50 books that match specific categories. For example, a book with a color in the title, or a book by an author you've never read before, a book from your childhood. My personal challenge is meet all the requirements without reusing a title. Red Tent will only get to count for either a book with a color in the title OR a book by an author I've never read before. I have recently moved to a new city and it's high time I go get my library card! I cannot wait till January 1st to begin this challenge! I will list all of the requirements in my next post. Thanks to everyone on this journey with me! I look forward to our year of IncREADable Reading!

There will be a few that I will have to alter just a tad. I'm from a small town in Texas and am not sure that I will be able to find a book based in that town, but if I can't, it will be a book by a local author.
The bottom of my to-read list, well there really isn't a bottom, it is ever growing, but I will pick a book that has been in queue for a minimum of 3 years.

I will also try to read entirely new books for this challenge, the one exception being my trilogy. I plan on reading the Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra Clare. I read the first book when it was published in 2010, but don't remember anything other than it's based far in the past from the Mortal Instruments. I wanted to wait till the series was complete before reading the rest because I enjoyed it a lot and I'm impatient. So here we go!

Angela (amarie6) | 29 comments What an interesting challenge! I look forward to seeing what books you end up choosing!

✨ABookGirl✨memoirs are my jam✨ (abookgirl1) OMG, I think I posted this challenge from Pinterest, too! I am addicted! I recently started going to the library again. I even bought myself a new book tote to take with me. I'm going to try to checkout as many books as possible. However, I am also a closet book hoarder. I just went to Goodwill and bout 37 books for $50. Aghhhhh!

Happy Reading and Good Luck!!!!!

Stephanie (Chinchillita) (chinchillita) | 427 comments First book on the list completed. I am reading the Harry Potter Series for the first time ever and am very excited about it. I had just started 7th grade when the first book was published and I almost finished it when the whole crazy hit the church. I was raised in a southern baptist home and, oh boy, it hit the fan when my mom found out about this series. So now, at 28, I'm finally getting around to reading them and so far, am enjoying them. The author's writing is maturing with the characters, which is a nice as I had trouble re-reading the first book back in December. I just finished the Goblet of Fire last night and have started The Order of the Phoenix. Woo-hoo!

I found the same challenge and decided to try it out too. I love how it has you find a book to cover certain point. Happy Reading!

Stephanie (Chinchillita) (chinchillita) | 427 comments To add on to my current Reading Challenge, I have gone through my bookshelves and realized how many books I own that I haven't yet read. So, to remedy this, I'm going to add another Challenge to my Reading Goals for this year. I want to bring that 108 down to 75. I am challenging myself to read 33 of my already owned books.

message 9: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra | 5832 comments I keep a list of all the unread books on my bookshelves, too! I haven't set a goal, but I've been trying since last year to make the number go down. Last year it went down from 88 or so books to the current 65. I have some more unread books on my Kindle, but at least those aren't taking up space!

Also, did you see the Popsugar Reading Challenge thread? It's not an official yearly challenge, but there's a place to discuss the challenge now, if you're interested. :)

Oh dear, I haven't even thought about what's on my Kindle! I really should get around to cleaning that out. Thanks for the link to the Popsugar Reading Challenge thread! I hadn't seen it yet.

Cassandra | 5832 comments I keep track of my actual books on my shelf separately than my Kindle ones, because otherwise it looks too depressing. Plus, I'd rather clear off my real shelves than my Kindle. Here's how I track it in my member corner.

Stephanie (Chinchillita) (chinchillita) | 427 comments I haven't updated here in quite some time as I have discovered the wonders of the Corners. I can't believe the year I have had for reading. Just a few months short of a year ago, I relocated from San Antonio, TX to Dallas, TX. I had a wonderful job opportunity that meant I would be leaving the city that I love, but also meant that I would stop working the long hours that comes with retail management. I now have the energy and time to read. I haven't been able to do this since I was in high school. When I originally set my reading goals for the year, I set them expecting to barely make the 55 books for the end of the year. But here it is, mid-March, and I'm 7 books away from that original goal. This has been an amazing change in my life. I look forward to surpassing that goal of 55 books and hoping to easily double it to 110. Thanks to this group for helping fan the flame of my love for the written word.

Cassandra | 5832 comments Great job, Stephanie! I'm glad that your job change has worked out well for you. What has been your favorite book so far this year?

Stephanie (Chinchillita) (chinchillita) | 427 comments Big Little Lies. Hands down! I have fallen in love with Rainbow Rowell though. There is a new library branch being opened where I live this weekend. As soon as that branch is officially opened, I'll be able to reserve the last book of her's that I need to read.

Stephanie (Chinchillita) (chinchillita) | 427 comments Update!
Over half way finished with the Popsugar Reading Challenge and only 3 books away from my GoodReads challenge of 55 books!
