19% This reads fast! Poor Evi Devil - I sense a lot lies under her facade. Don't read the spoiler if you don't want a recap of what I've read so far!!!! (view spoiler)[her real mother supposedly killed her siblings and tried to kill her. But I'm sure there's a lot more to the whole story. I don't trust Garret already (the psychologist boyfriend) because what therapist that's worth his weight boinks his patient. Leroy (the son of the lake neighbor is creepy, I suppose on purpose. Edward (the dad) is hot and hot for Evi. Daniel, the other son who drowned, I imagine is going to play a big part. It was creepy when she thought she saw him on the lake and called Leroy by Daniel's name. Then we have the wife, Natalie, who hasn't gotten over Daniel's death - and I imagine that will play into something happening between Evi and Edward. (hide spoiler)]

And saying in the letter that she's not sorry for what she did, only that she didn't do it sooner? (hide spoiler)]

I started earlier but didn't get very far...hoping to gain some ground tonight :)

I am pretty sure you are right. I think Evi even made a comment about why she would be out already....but I could be mixing up books. I just finished Rose Gold, LOL

67% and I am not enjoying this. I think the writing is awful. I am now skimming mostly because I'm hoping that there will be something that will save the storyline.

Yeah ladies - I think it's pretty awful. I'll let you know if the supposed mind-blowing twist at the end is worth it. Otherwise, I'd say free was a good price for this one!

Alrighty - so I'm done. 3 stars. I would have given it 2, but I will say that the twists and turns I did not see coming at all. It's dark. It's depraved. It's disgusting. It's really out there! The writing itself was sophomoric at best. I'm not sure I'd say it's worth the time of reading it. Judy, if you don't wanna continue, but want to know how it all ended, let me know and I'll spoiler it for you.

thanks Lisa...does the disgusting parts have to do with her past she can't remember and the scars on her back? yes if you can just give me the low down! :) I think normally I would have just pushed through it, but I have a lot of books waiting and calling for me ;-)

So here goes (view spoiler)[Evi is actually experiencing a mental break. She doesn't have a lake house. She's staying at a voluntary mental facility and she left. A lot of what she is experiencing isn't really happening - like Garret isn't her lover. The doctor staying at the "lake house" is actually a psychiatrist there. The son who was spying on her is actually a patient. The wife of the doctor is another patient, and not his wife. The son that drowned - well, it just happened recently and not a year ago...and he didn't drown. Evi killed him because he was trying to force her into sex and it triggered her memories from her family. Her mother and father were brother and sister. They gave birth to a daughter, Eleanor. Eleanor had issues due to the fact that she was born of incest, and was basically abandoned by her mother and father, and Evi was raising her...but they were forbidden from letting anyone outside the home know the baby had been born. Evi's brothers and father were sexually abusing her. Evi one day got a surprise birthday party from her teacher, which made her late going home to care for Eleanor. One of the brothers got mad at Eleanor and smothered her. Evi felt a huge amount of guilt over not being there because she was eating birthday cake. Can't think of the name of the old friend she ran into at the house - but he actually killed a friend of her brother's who tried to rape Evi. (hide spoiler)] Basically that's the story in a nutshell. I probably left out some details, but I think I hit the highlights.

thanks Lisa...I did end up finishing it but skimmed the last half...you pretty much got it right in your spoiler...I gave it 2* I'm glad it was free :-/ on to the next :)
