BriAnna Tomlin | 2 comments Hello,

So I’m a officer in a sorority and I was given the task to start a book club. I need book suggestions; my sisters are looking to ready a mystery romance with a preferably happy ending (our morale is low since we just got our semester taken from us). I’m not looking for a super easy read, but something 18-22 year olds would enjoy.

Thank you for all of your help :)

Somebody Killed His Editor
Pressure Head
Shattered Glass

MM/more serious:

Sinner's Gin

Traditional:

Strong Poison (from the 1930's, but I loved it when I was in college, so . . .)

You might take a look at books by Jayne Ann Krentz who writes HEA romantic suspense often with a paranormal element. The books are not squeaky clean but in my opinion they'd be fine reading for intelligent teen as well as adults. Though some are connected by a suspense story arc each book can usually be read as standalone. Under Krentz name the setting is contemporary. She writes as Jayne Castle for futuristic and Amanda Quick for historical.
If you are wanting more mystery with a bit of romance you might want to take a look at cozy mysteries. I read cozies and if you want some suggestions let me know a little more about what kind of books you want.
ETA: There are many lists on Goodreads. Click browse at the top the page then click list in the drop down menu. You can search for a list of books such as "new adult romance" and see if anything there interests you.
You might also create a shelf of "books we like" that can be used by Goodreads to make recommendations. The more books the better the recommendations will be. You might want have a shelf "romance we like" and another "mystery we like" and you can put books that a both on both shelves or create third shelf for those.

Rosa (rosaiglarsh) | 5384 comments Jane Eyre or Jenna Starborn (sci-fi retelling of Jane Eyre)
The Falconer's Knot: A Story of Friars, Flirtation and Foul Play (I loved this one!)
Black Alice (One of my very favorite books, but not a romance, sorry. It's just too good to pass over.)
AND
The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency. Perfect for your group!
