Hank (hankenstein) | 1230 comments Ok so this is a fairly limited subset of the bookshelf but worth it for a bit of a diversion.

Sci-Fi and Fantasy Book Club quiz

I think I want to make the next one harder but opinions, spell checks are more than welcome.

Good luck!

message 3: by Hank (new)

Hank (hankenstein) | 1230 comments Ok, so maybe not harder for the next one :)

message 4: by Anna (last edited Mar 22, 2020 02:37PM) (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10435 comments It might be worth doing a harder one for those who’ve read all the group books! 😄

And yay for more fun things!

message 5: by Sandy (new)

Sandy | 271 comments I did terrible too but then there are still a lot of books I need to read. I think I could only answer 4 or 5.

message 6: by Hank (new)

Hank (hankenstein) | 1230 comments Thanks CB and Sandy for trying it out! And Anna of course.

message 7: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3168 comments Woohoo- 87%! Not bad considering I haven’t read a lot of them. I didn’t have a chance to really check my answers though since my app crashed lol.

message 8: by DivaDiane (new)

DivaDiane SM | 3676 comments I also did mostly terrible. If I read the book I knew the answer, but I don’t even think it was a third of the questions I felt I knew the answers of. But also I got an error message when I submitted (app ID error?) and didn’t see my results.

message 9: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3168 comments I was able to check. Ironically- two of the five I got wrong are books I’ve read.

message 10: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3168 comments Diane if you click the link again it should show you your answers.

message 11: by DivaDiane (new)

DivaDiane SM | 3676 comments Oh! When I went back to take it again it said I got 65%! Well, I guess I’m adept at guessing! Also I could often rule out 1 or 2 books of 4 because I’d read them but not the book the statement was referring to!

message 12: by Ada (new)

Ada | 85 comments Oef 52% but I haven't read most of the books...

I did get to add 1 book to my tbr because of question 24: 'A sci-fi version of Groundhog Day'.

I'm a sucker for Groundhog stories!

message 13: by Gabi (new)

Gabi | 3441 comments This was cool, Hank! I got 90%.

message 14: by Dawn F (new)

Dawn F (psychedk) | 1223 comments Hah, that was fun! I got 70% correct, apparently XD

<3 Thanks for putting me (us?) into Memory Called Empire, Hank!

This is so fun, thanks for making it!

70% (28/40) and shamefully two of the questions I got wrong were about books I'd read.

Thanks Hank!

message 17: by Hank (new)

Hank (hankenstein) | 1230 comments I was hoping you noticed that you, and for extra credit, one other club member is represented. You never know when joining in on the discussion might help on a random trivia question :)

Glad everyone is liking it! Nice job crushing it Gabi and Dawn!

message 18: by YouKneeK (new)

YouKneeK | 1412 comments Thanks for this Hank, I had fun taking it!

I expected to do really bad, but I did ok. 82% and the ones I missed were all for books I hadn’t read. There was a lot of guessing though, either by ruling out some answers that I knew weren’t right because I'd read those books as Diane mentioned, or guessing based on what seemed logical for the title, or using the process of elimination and not guessing the same title twice.

I may have missed or over-counted some, but I counted 49 unique books in the various multiple choice answers. Of those, I’ve read only 16.

message 19: by Hank (new)

Hank (hankenstein) | 1230 comments Question 20 is unintentionally hard. A couple of the others are purposefully misleading. If you answer a certain way on question 20 you should count that as correct.

message 20: by Hank (new)

Hank (hankenstein) | 1230 comments One of the other cool things about creating your own quiz which I did not know until now is that I get to see everyone's score.

So congratulations to both Allison and Kaa for the 100% just in case they are too humble to mention it.

message 21: by Kaa (new)

Kaa | 1543 comments Lol, thanks Hank! I was just coming over to brag about having apparently read a very similar subset of group books to you - most of the books mentioned in the quiz I've either read or read enough about to recognize. I had a lot of fun figuring out the clues. Thanks for putting this together!

I mean, I'm kind of like the professor taking the test here lol. Excellent job Kaa and Hank for knowing all these books!

message 23: by Cheryl (last edited Mar 30, 2020 07:51AM) (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Hank, well written. I'm not surprised that I got only 52%. I will (re) consider adding some of these to mt. tbr based on your summaries.

67% Do you offer extra credit?

message 25: by Hank (new)

Hank (hankenstein) | 1230 comments My oldest (eldest?) son appreciates all of the extra credit he can get so.... of course!

If you can figure out who Five Rosewood is from this thread

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

that should be worth at least 2 points. Allison = Four Occulus for another hint.

message 26: by Bill (new)

Bill | 197 comments I got 33 out of 40. Only got one wrong for books that I had read. Fun quiz.

message 27: by Jacqueline (new)

Jacqueline | 2428 comments 65%. I am very good at guessing.

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 2791 comments Sarah wrote: "I was able to check. Ironically- two of the five I got wrong are books I’ve read."

Haha same! I did not read one of the clues correctly, duh.

Thanks for the quiz, btw!

(view spoiler)?

message 31: by Hank (new)

Hank (hankenstein) | 1230 comments Extra credit for Cheryl!

message 32: by Karin (new)

Karin 40 percent, but some were guesses. I just haven't read enough of these books. I thought I'd do worse.

message 33: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10435 comments Bump for those who hadn't seen this :)

message 34: by Anna (last edited Mar 29, 2020 05:13PM) (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10435 comments I finally took this and I skipped one question I think? It doesn't have an answer at all in my results. I would've known that :( Oh well, it was fun anyway :D

Definitely do another one with older group reads!

message 35: by Pujashree (new)

Pujashree | 17 comments I guessed an embarrassingly large amount and still got 39/40. Woo!

message 36: by Christopher (new)

Christopher | 981 comments 36 of 40 correct (90%)

Thanks for the quiz!

message 37: by Raucous (new)

Raucous | 888 comments Pujashree wrote: "I guessed an embarrassingly large amount and still got 39/40. Woo!"

That's impressive guessing! I did the same, ended up with 36/40 (37/40 if I take credit for the alternative answer on #20), and was pleasantly surprised.

message 38: by Hank (new)

Hank (hankenstein) | 1230 comments Nice job all and thanks for taking it!

message 39: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie | 1279 comments That was fun.
I got 35/40, wrong ones were for books i haven't read (yet).

Thanks for the quiz!
