This book was written by Dr Seuss in 1960 and has sold 8 million copies. The book creatively follows Sam-I-Am attempting to convince the narrator to try green eggs and ham through the use of rhyme. This create an almost musical element to the book. It could be used to explore rhyming or persuasion techniques in an English lesson, the possibility of creating green eggs in a science or food technology lesson or could even be used as a link to foods eaten by different cultures.
In my opinion there is also a moral to the story, whereby the end of the story the narrator relents and try’s the green eggs and ham and ends up loving it. This could be a message to children to try new things. I still love this book and think all children should be encouraged to explore it as it makes reading fun again!
