The tentacles surrounding human trafficking are long, intricately entangled and involve powerful men and women. Was that made abundantly clear here? This is an older story...have things changed much since its release date?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments I have no idea about the truth vs. the fiction of human trafficking. I had a friend who worked for a nonprofit that helped girls and women who had been trafficked, but she retired and I have no first hand info any more.

Melissa (melissasd) | 676 comments It was made perfectly clear and I would think that something like that wouldn't change much. The drug trade is the same way.

You only have to look at the Jeffrey Epstein debacle to understand the breadth of this problem. There were lots of powerful men with ties to him who knew of his problems with young girls. That island of his was more than a red flag and he had plenty of enablers.

No, not much has changed and it saddens me that this was the scope of the issue when this book was originally written. It’s a huge problem globally.
