Let's use this to post links where other books can be obtained while we can't use our libraries.

I know that we all know
Gutenberg.org
Librivox
Internet Archives

And Bookscool.com has a bunch of free ebooks on it (including our next Botm " The Great Indian Novel")

Pip | 1822 comments Since lockdown I have sorted my fiction shelves and have unearthed a great number of unread 1001 books which will keep me busy for a few years at least, if we keep the TBR challenge going.

This is a bit off topic as it is not 1001 books but in case you are interested.

"Big Library Read connects readers around the world with the same book at the same time without any waitlists or holds. Borrow Funny, You Don’t Look Autistic to join the book club. Note: contains mature content.

Big Library Read is running March 23 - April 13."

I am putting this out there because it is free and world wide.

Archipelagobooks.org
Archive.org, is suspending waitlists for 1.4 million titles.

Liz M | 194 comments With many library systems closed and Amazon delaying orders on "non-essential" items, now is the best time to support independent bookstores:

https://bookshop.org/

ETA: for now, this is US only :(

Some "better news". My library has decided to open with curbside pick up. You order on line, set up a pick up time when stuff available and then pick it up. They come out, leave on bench, rush back in, you get out and pick up your order.

Life is so strange.

I agree Kristel, life is so strange. I am glad for you that libraries are opening up in some way. I hope our library could do that in the future. Los Angeles system renewed all books checked out to June 30 so I am guessing they will be closed until then.

Sallys | 38 comments I am using this time as an opportunity to read books that have been on my shelves for years. Of course I still occasionally order from Amazon. I just finished The Solitude of Prime Numbers which I highly recommend. About to start A Perfect Peace by Amos Oz.
