Christie | 104 comments I was just able to update my post because that is on thing that is lacking in the app. Anyways I wanted to just say thanks, instead of reading a gay, lesbian or bisexual book for the LGBT genre, I picked a transgender book. It was a really good book and I learned a lot. I am so happy that I am a part of this challenge and I thank you again.

message 159: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Welcome! Glad you enjoyed the book. I read a book with an intersex character. It was really good too.

Description

Time travel could hypothetically involve moving backward in time to a moment earlier than the starting point, or forward to the future of that point without the need for the traveler to experience the intervening period (at least not at the normal rate). Time travel can form the central theme of a book or it can simply be a plot device to drive a story. Time travel in fiction can ignore the possible effects of the time traveler's actions or it can explote its repercussions (ie: paradoxes).

Mehsi Oh Time Travel, that might be a nice one. I haven't read anything for the current month (not in a mood for Tragedy books, and probably won't be for a long time), but I will participate again next month.

Description

Humor is usually a work of fiction in which the writer seeks to amuse the reader, sometimes with subtlety and as part of a carefully woven narrative, sometimes above all other considerations. It could indeed be said that comedy fiction is literary work that aims primarily to provoke laughter, but this isn't always as obvious as it first may seem.

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments Okay, now I can't decide which one to read. I have too many! I love Ellen Hopkins, of course, and I love Lisa Shroeder.

message 193: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments Okay, I decided on one of two very different ones; October Mourning A Song for Matthew Shepard by Lesléa Newman or Audacity by Melanie Crowder

message 194: by Caron (new)

Caron (diminishingthoughts) | 1053 comments It's this weird book my dad found at a book sale. Middle grade I think. 'Wish you were here (And I Wasn't)'. I can't remember the author's name but it's filled cover to cover with the most random and weird poems.

message 195: by Mehsi (new)

Mehsi Is it OK to skip genres challenges? If yes, then I will skip August, since I absolutely dislike verse/poetry books.

message 196: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Absolutely! If it's not your thing, feel free. No requirement to complete all of them. It's just for fun! :)

message 197: by Mehsi (new)

Mehsi Thanks Jacquelyn. :)

message 198: by Polus (new)

Polus (halbpolus) funny thing. i have a book that deals with german nature poems. i might read that one

message 199: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kellyanlas) These genres are really pushing my usual boundaries, which is awesome! I think I've already read Crank when I was younger, so I'll have to try another of the suggestions :)

message 200: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments Kelly, that's one thing I LOVE about this group. I am an English teacher and I read more genres and more books now than I ever have. In fact, I used to NEVER read sci-fi! LOL
