Dan in AZ | 2960 comments Just received notification that our library is suspending its “pick up in the parking lot” program for books on hold. This virus business is getting old already. As long as we’re healthy, can’t complain too much.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16930 comments Dan: My heart is hurting for so many reasons that are related to the life and death situations so many are facing, so library closures should pale in comparison - but that we can't access those wonderful books inside just makes me sad. Think of the good those books could do for people safely staying at home, even if they could just checkout a cookbook.

Susie Fevella (susieinks) | 1798 comments Our libraries are closed too. Thank goodness my shelves and Kindle seem to be fully stocked :)

Sherry | 4517 comments our libraries are also closed. one of them puts a carousel out daily with books, movies, puzzles where you can go and take what you want. pretty sure the stuff on it comes from library donations since you don't have to return anything. they sanitize all before it's put outside. a friend of mine is a librarian at another of our libraries and even though they are closed, she has to go to work every day.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16930 comments Sherry: the carousel idea with donated books is terrific!

Melodie (melodieco) | 3679 comments I barely read 3 books last month. Can't stay interested in anything for long. Yeah, this stuff sucks.

Melodie, me too. I thought I'd get a lot of reading done, but having trouble focusing as well. My library had done one weekend of parking lot pick up for anything requested items that came in. So I had 3 library books in hand, a book I purchased with a gc, and a ton of stuff on kindle. Also, we can still access our library's e books. Maybe this week I'll turn off the news and read more.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9485 comments Our libraries have been closed for awhile. When I went in for the last time, they said the staff would still be there working, just not open to the public. Wonder if that's still the case. I feel bad for the librarians if it is not. The good news is that whatever we have out already would have no fines attached. This is were my library hoarding tendencies have paid off. Although like Melodie, I am getting little reading done but for a different reason. My work load is off the charts with these new leave bills being passed, and somehow working from home makes it easier to hop on the computer after dinner to finish "just one more thing." Is it time to retire yet? ;-)

Ann (annrumsey) | 16930 comments Carol: I wish I had a stack of print books checked out. Hope you’ll start to find some balance between work from home and relaxing after work from home.

Actually it's audios, which is even better. One day I decided to load up on the Prey series I'm re-listening to and they all came in at once. Once the stay-at-home advisory began I had to buy a CD player because no more work commute which is where I did all of my CD listening.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16930 comments Carol: I'm glad you got a cd player for home use and nice that you are stocked up on Lucas audiobooks!
