April 11, 2020 through June 9, 2020
8 Week Dash For the Win!

Challenge Dates:
Signups open until April 11, 2020 at 9 PM US EDT.
Remaining Teams Assigned after signups close on April 11, 2020.
First Task Assigned April 14, 2020 at 6 PM US EDT.
Challenge Ends on June 9, 2020 at Midnight US EDT, tasks will not be accepted after this time.

Each team will work together to complete tasks. Once complete, you will be given another task to complete. After the first task, teams will be on different paths with tasks randomly assigned. The same tasks may be assigned to different teams at different times, but no task will be used more than once by the same team. Each team works at their own pace and the team that completes the most tasks at the end of 8 weeks will be the winner!

After the first task is given to everyone, when a team finishes their task they will need to report their completion in the Tracking/Q&A thread. I will confirm the completion and assign their next task. New tasks will not be assigned more frequently than every other day. I will attempt to respond quickly to confirm completion and assign new tasks, but please allow up to 24 hours. If I am unavailable, another mod will assign the task.

Each teammate will need to participate in each task, but may take a pass for one task during the course of the challenge. For some tasks, no passes will be allowed. Completions posts will need to be made when finishing each book for a task, similar to the PtP and Bachelor Challenges. A player will be removed if they make no comment for 5 days after a new task is assigned or 3 days after the rest of the team completes the task (whichever is later), despite attempts to make contact.

MountainKat | 31601 comments I think most of you know each other, at least a little, but feel free to introduce yourself again. Please give any relevant information, especially time zone as that helps know when it is best to communicate. 😊

Please select a team leader to help keep track of where your team is in any given task. And as necessary guide discussions for task decisions. Any teammate can report your completions though.

PS - If you want to be known as anything other than Team 5, you are free to come up with a team name. 😉

Nikitha | 500 comments Hi guys, I'm Nikitha! This is only my second reading challenge ever and I'm really looking forward to it. I live in Chennai, India.

Hope all of you are safe and well!

message 9: by Deanie (new)

Deanie Nelder | 87 comments Hi. Checking in. I'm in Georgia (the state). This is my first team challenge like this too. I was going to suggest that the person with the most experience with these challenges be team leader, but out of the three of us checked in so far, none of us have really done this before...so I don't know.

message 10: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31601 comments Has anyone heard from Autumn? I've messaged her twice.

Also, being the leader for this shouldn't be too hard. Mostly just a point person, you can all work to keep track of where you are in a task and when you've completed them.

message 11: by Autumn (new)

Autumn Miller | 130 comments Sorry! I had my notifications turned off. I’ll turn them on so I get the messages. My name is Autumn. I live in California. I’m a stay at home mom to a 15 month old boy, and I’m currently in school to become a court reporter. I’ve never done a reading challenge before but I’m excited to try it with you all!

message 12: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 2044 comments If everyone's okay with it, I don't mind being team leader. Like Kat said, we can all work together to track our progress. Let me know :)

message 13: by Autumn (new)

Autumn Miller | 130 comments That works for me Aiswrya. Thanks for taking the lead!

MountainKat | 31601 comments Task 1 - ALL TEAMS!!

1. Each player reads a book by the same author, teams decide author - no pass for this task.

Ready, Set, GO!

message 15: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 2044 comments Yayy! We are on!! I'm not entirely sure how we should go about this for this task, but can we all post our preferences for all possible tasks we may be assigned? That way, we can get started on it much quicker. I'll post the task list in a later post.

For this task, since all of us are fans of paranormal romances, can we read Nalini Singh? I don't mean to choose for everyone, but in the interest of time for this particular task, I think it would make it easier? Let me know if anyone has objections to this particular author :) I'm pretty much open to anyone else.

Thanks guys!! I'm so excited!

message 16: by Nikitha (new)

Nikitha | 500 comments I'm good with Nalini Singh. I've never read her books but I'm up for it

message 17: by Nikitha (new)

Nikitha | 500 comments Also, do we all have to read the same book or just the same author?

Autumn Miller | 130 comments I’m good with Nalini Signh. I love her books 😉. I’ll look over the list too and start writing down some options. happy reading guys!

message 21: by Deanie (new)

Deanie Nelder | 87 comments I've never read Nalini Singh, but I've heard of her, and her books sound interesting.

message 22: by Deanie (last edited Apr 13, 2020 05:53AM) (new)

Deanie Nelder | 87 comments For the tasks:
My birth month is August
My decade of birth is the 1970s
My hometown is either Northville, Michigan, or Brunswick, Georgia, neither of which have books written there (as far as I know). If we expand a bit Goodreads has me listed as in the Savannah area, which does open up other possibilities.

Do we want to list favorite authors and tropes?

My favorite authors are Nora Roberts, Suzanne Brockmann, Kristen Painter, Susan Stoker (romance), Agatha Christie, J.D. Robb, Mildred Abbott, Tess Gerritsen (mystery), Melanie Cellier, K.M. Shea (fantasy).

Tropes: fake relationship, military romance (is that trope?), friends to lovers

message 23: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 2044 comments Great! Nalini Singh it is :) I don't think we have to post a selection post, we just need completion posts. So, let me know when you have finished the book :) Happy reading everyone!

message 24: by Nikitha (new)

Nikitha | 500 comments My birth month is May
My decade of birth is 2000
My hometown is Chennai, Tamil Nadu and I don't think there are too many books based off of here either
My favourite tropes are friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, arranged marriages eventually leading to love, small town romances, fake relationships, historical
Under non romance, I like fantasy, paranomal, murder mysteries, adventures, etc

I can't think of too many favourite authors at the moment but I'll keep you all updated!

Autumn Miller | 130 comments I was born in March, 1990 but I’m good with reading any month and year you guys want for that task.
My hometown is Las Vegas, Nevada. I’m sure they have quite a few books based there. I’ve also lived in Southern California most of my adult life.
I love most romance books 😆 but my favorites are enemies to lovers, slow burns, paranormal/urban fantasy, romantic suspense, marriage of convenience. I’m willing to give anything a chance though.

Sorry about that. Just updated my post!

message 40: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 2044 comments Awesome! With that, we have finished task 1!

message 41: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31601 comments Yay - you've finished the first task! Here is Task 2:

47. Read 6 books set in a major city.

Your books will need to be set in a big city, LA, NY, London, Paris or Rome are examples. You can use the setting on the GR main book page, a tag like 'set in xyz', a list such as 'set in xyz' or the precis to qualify your book.

message 42: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 2044 comments Do we all have to pick the same city?

message 43: by Autumn (new)

Autumn Miller | 130 comments Are we each reading 6 books, or is the team reading 6 books?

message 44: by Aiswrya (new)

Aiswrya | 2044 comments The team together is reading 6 books. So let's all read one each and the first two to finish can read another. Does that work with everyone?

And Kat said we can all pick different cities. Doesn't have to be the same. Happy reading everyone!

message 45: by Autumn (new)
