All Zero could hear were deafening screams coming from all directions. She had no idea what was happening, nobody did. Not even her father, who always seemed to know everything.
"Grab your weapons!" she shouted to the panicked soldiers that had just arrived at the base a day before. Someone needed to take the lead and it sure as hell wouldn't be those privates that were screaming their lungs out and crying. "Snap out of it, you're soldiers for fuck's sake!" she yelled at them after climbing to a higher platform. That seemed to help, even if just a little bit, and the men and women alike slowly started picking up their weapons and joining the older, more experienced soldiers in the fight against the... dinosaurs? That was surely the best way to describe the beings that came spilling out of the Earth after it cracked and sent droplets of hot lava flying around. Zero experienced just how hot it was on her own skin after one landed on her bare forearm. She shouted a curse word before jumping back down and joining the soldiers fighting.
Bullets were flying left and right, but to no avail. It barely fazed the creatures. Until one finally dropped to the ground after Zero shot it in the neck.
"Shoot at their necks!" she shouted and suddenly dinosaurs started dropping dead one after another, blood spilling from the bullet wounds in the soft skin of their necks. But they just kept coming, spilling from the cracks like a never ending plague of nightmares.
"Retreat!" shouted someone and Zero breathed a sigh of relief when she recognized the voice to be her dad's. She just wanted to run into his arms and hug him and cry about everything that happened and have him tell her everything was going to be okay... But it wasn't how she was raised. She had to stand strong. Even in times like these, she was not allowed to cry or show weakness. So she turned away from him and proceeded to retreat while shooting down the creatures.
Once they were all finally inside the strong compound that was made to withstand even bomb blasts, though just the weaker ones, her father rose to an elevated platform somewhere in the left of the huge room with silver metal walls.
"Listen up!" he shouted and all the buzzing in the room suddenly stopped - she always admired her father's ability to get everyone's attention, even in the worst situations. "I am not going to lie to you, I have no idea what is going on. But we cannot stay here. They will bust in anytime and I can already feel the heat of lava," he went on, his eyes searching the room for something, or better yet, someone. His eyes finally landed on Zero and she saw relief wash over his face, even if it was there just for a second. "Zero," he called and she quickly made her way towards him, pushing away other soldiers until she was finally standing in front of the platform.
"Sir?" she asked questioningly and he motioned towards the doorway that led to another room.
"Zero will lead you all outside. She will take the front and I will take the rear. Listen to everything she says! Do you understand?" he said, his eyes back on the soldiers in the room.
"Sir, yes, sir!" the whole room chanted in unison, Zero included. After nodding her head in her father's direction, she quickly hurried to the room he pointed at earlier and pulled open a heavy metal door that was positioned in the middle. Her father soon joined her and held the trapdoor open while she jumped inside. She looked back up and saw him open his mouth to speak, say something to her, but his eyes widened when blood sprayed his face. It was the private next to him, the first in line to jump in after Zero. Sticking from his chest were spikes with green liquid dripping off that seemed to burn off the private's skin. And then, chaos broke out. Everyone began screaming again and she looked at her father who held fear in his eyes. And that was something that scared her. She never saw him afraid. Ever. He was always strong, always hid negative emotions.
He looked down at her with an expression that was full of regret and she knew what that meant.
"Dad, no!" she shouted as he threw his dogtags and combat knife down and she caught it. He shouted something at her, but she could not make out the words over all the screaming and then it was too late because he slammed the trapdoor shut and she found herself in complete darkness. She fumbled with the flashlight that was attached to her breast pocket and finally managed to turn it on - she started banging her side on the inside of the trapdoor and shouted for him, for her beloved father that left her all alone, that sacrificed himself so she could survive. No. He didn't do it for her. He did it so the others would be able to get out.
The screaming outside was slowly dying out, but she wasn't stopping. Her shoulder was aching and her throat was sore. But she couldn't stop. She couldn't just leave everyone behind.
"Dad..." she sobbed after finally stopping and running her fingers across the cold door that wasn't even slightly dented, despite her efforts to get it open. Finally setting her mind, she turned away and started walking down the long hallway that would resurface again about three miles away from the base with her shoulders tense and dried tears on her cheeks.
((My posts are usually much shorter, but I just got a random rush of inspiration.))

When the monsters came, his parants were away at the nearest big town, and he was ready to meet the creatures with a shotgun at hand. He shot them down, but quickly ran out of ammo. So he grabbed a different gun. But by the time that gun was done, a section of the house was aflame. Letting out a few curse words, he ran inside and let Lucy loose. Grabbing another gun, he ran back outside.
With Lucy nipping at his heels, he made a break for the trees. He managed to bring a few down, and a few managed to injure him, but he kept running. Once he reached the cover of the trees, he didn't stop. There weren't as many monsters the further he ran, so he ran faster. Soon, he got to the point where there weren't any at all. Breathing hard, he slowed to a walk. He ran his hand through his sweaty hair and pet Lucy's head with the other. He let out a relieved laugh and looked down at Lucy. He crouched to pet her body. "Yeah," He said softly. "That just happened."

Zero emerged from a tunnel in a cold and dark forest. She quickly turned the light off and covered the entrance to the tunnel with many sticks and leaves. She knew it was probably pointless, seeing as how the dinosaurs already wrecked the base, but there was a tiny part of her that told her that maybe, just maybe, they killed them and her dad was still alive. And she intended to find out. And besides, the base had so many supplies she could use to survive.
She was no stranger to surviving alone in wilderness. Her dad drove her in the middle of thickest forests and left her with nothing but an empty bottle, a gun and an empty backpack. And she always found a way home. Back then, she despised all these tests she had to do. But now, she was grateful to him.
Zero made sure her gun was fully loaded and strapped the knife her father gave her around her thigh before advancing forward, her senses on high alert.

Find someone else. That was what he had to do first. He couldn't be the only survivor in this sudden attack of dinosoars. As he walked, he checked to see how much more ammo he had. He'd pocketed a few packages of it, but some of it had fallen out in his mad dash. His clip was almost empty, so he filled it and put the remaining ammo in a more secure pocket.

Those few people that lived here were running away frantically and trying to fight off the dinosaurs. Lava was spilling out of small cracks in the ground, but it was slowing down.
She climbed back down and stared towards the base, where she would check if her father was still alive and get supplies.
((Sorry for this lame paragraph, alcohol is messing with me, so I'm trying my best.))

Soon, he was jumping at every noise, his gun going up halfway when Lucy made a sudden noise when he didn't know where she was. After a few more minutes, he came across a stream. It was small and moving fast enough that it was probably safe to drink. He scooped some into his hands and drank.
((It's all good.))
Do you want us to each create a character or just develop them through the story? Because I'm fine with either.
