Start your own thread within this discussion area. At the beginning of the year we often list books we hope to read during the course of the year. Then throughout the year we list those we actually have read and reviewed and keep count. You can comment in this thread but please create a new thread to list your books.

Tally ho!

Marin | 28 comments I don't have a list but i will begin by reading mostly Canadian poets. The first is written by an East Coast poet and professor, Anne Compton. The book is "asking questions indoors and out."

Hope I am in the right place.

Marin

Hi Marin. It's great to have someone introducing us to Canadian poets. Each person starts her own thread within this discussion area and lists the books she reads as she goes. Sometimes we start with books we intend to read and sometimes not. And one or two don't keep a list at all. When you review a book, start a separate topic for it in our 2015 Reviews section. Look forward to hearing about your reading!

Hi, Marin. I, too, look forward to hearing about more Canadian poets. The only one I'm aware of reading is Margaret Atwood, whom I adore.

I'm also looking forward to your reviews of Canadian poets, Marin! I recently became interested in the work of the Canadian poet Alexandra Oliver, author of Meeting the Tormenters at Safeway (you can read the electric title poem here in The Toronto Quarterly, the project of Canadian editor Darryl Salach, who sadly passed away this year). I also like some of the work of the late Canadian poet Daryl Hine, which I reviewed here on Goodreads some time back. Oh, and Anne Carson's long poem "The Glass Essay" is one of my all-time favorites. I would love to learn about other Canadian poets.

Thanks Jen, Jenna and Alarie. I think the East Coast is rich with fine poets and writers in general. Alarie - Margaret Atwood has a book of poems, "Morning in a Burned House," which you may want to look at. Very good. I also like Anne Carson. I'm looking forward to learning from all of you.
