Please keep in mind that spoilers are allowed in this thread but only up to the group's current reading place. Do not spoil the book if you've read further than the group. Any extra days can be used to catch up!

Each week we will be reading by chapters. The suggested Buddy Read discussion schedule is as follows:

I'm real interested why Ethan is acting towards her the way he is, I mean I was intrigued by that since the flashback of when they met, but him saying she always looks great ??? questions. I'm also afraid it'll end up being something stupid 😅 (hide spoiler)]

@Laura I usually don't expect much from this genre, but I've been reading some cringy things in this genre so this now is wow 😅 and so far I'm enjoing it.

I'm really interested what happened that they "hate" each other. He said she was mean to him, and we know from Olive's perspective that didn't happen... so maybe Ami pretended to be her? But why? (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 6

The story has gotten better so far, but I cannot say I am enjoying it...yet.

As for why Eric...I mean Ethan is such a jerk to Ollie, I can bet my water bottle that it's something really eye-roll worthy like 'Oh, you were perfect, I didn't think I deserved to be with you' or 'I didn't want to be vulnerable', 'Or I couldn't let myself fall for you, so I decided to be an asshole instead even though I want you'.

I hope I am wrong.

yeah, I think it's going to be something eye-roll-y too.
Is it a master piece? No, but as I said I read some real shit before this and now I'm flying 😂 The writing is telling instead of showing and the whole story seems somehow hollow so far, but, again, I so don't care 😅

Chapter 8

Bro Dane and Free Ami: something fishy going on there. One of them is lying. Or both of them. I can't wait to find out.

I think their relationship is a fail.. and they just haven't realized it yet...but we'll see what'll happen.

I just finished chapter 13.. and yeah, I can see and am expecting some shit to happen when they get back home.

Also, his view on their first meeting is meh.. he's too chill about it.

The Dane thing, right? I agree. He doesn't seem upset at all. Show some emotion, man! But nooo he's just like "Bro Dane didn't want us to be together because blah blah blah, and has cost us over two years, so what's showing on Netflix tonight?"

yeah.. I already said this story feels hollow and I'm still sticking to it, cuz it needed more work to be amazing, but I'm still having fun although a bit less. I usually like the parts before the couple gets together because that's fun, but when they end up together it's all lovey-dovey and for a Romance Deprived Person I'm not that into romance 😂

Also, oh shit.. She lost her job on her first day.. the bad luck is back.

So Dane is sooooo gross.
I don't like Ethan being so "oh, but he couldn't have done that, he's not like that, you must've understood it wrong". He's so deep into denial.

chapter 17 great.. Ami is a jerk too

I felt so sorry for Octavia. no job, boyfriend or sister in her corner.

I have been thinking about Elmo's reaction...or lack thereof to Dane getting in between him and Oliver two years ago, and it's kind of consistent with his character. I mean, he's introspective and since the story is not told from his perspective or in third person, we are not privy to his thoughts. So, while he totally came of as casual about the whole thing, a storm musta been brewing in his mind...or something, because we know the man can overthink things too.

Every time I see a name that is not the main characters' I'm staring at it confused asking who? And then I remember. Them intentionally calling each other by wrong names was cute, but I'm sad it stopped after they got together.

Could be, but also it could've been better written.

I started chapter 20. Just a little more to go.

“It was a sign from the universe—”
“Dios,” Mom interjects.
Diego holds up a finger. “Beyoncé.”

So, yeah, it was fun, I wish it was better written and the characters more developed, but I wanted an easy, fun read and that's exactly what I got.

Same. I have thought about it and my rating is a little higher than I thought it would be

I'm leaning toward a 3+

3.7 rounded up. Didn't feel right giving it a 3 because a 3 for me is 'meh', but I enjoyed it too much for it to be just meh.

My rating system is not like that. 3 is solid, it's something I enjoyed but wasn't mindblown and other people are probably going to like it more than me... and look at that it happened xD
