What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

Hi All,

Please help me find this, the description might not be 100% accurate. I will accept all suggestions.
it's about a girl who one days sees a shadow or a strange man that offers her to go to a school/university free of charge. He asks her to keep quiet and not tell anyone. I believe he threatens to kill her mother. The school is magical and whoever behaves gets rewarded well, otherwise the punishment is severe.
This is all i remember, i read the plot one year ago here but i didnt mark it in my list.
